I would like to know if adding components to the front doors of my 2007 ms3 would be ok or if I have to upgrade the amp as well. I believe the bose system has an amp under one of the front seats, so I am hoping just upgrading the speakers is enough at this time.
Please let me know what you think though.
Thanks,
eric

I believe the amp is under one of the rear seats and you will be okay adding components to your ride.

yea definitely upgrading your speakers is ok, the sound will probably be more crisp and defined.

IIRC most aftermarket speakers have an impedence of between 4-8 ohms wheras Bose have an impedence of 2 ohms. Speakers have to be matched to the bose amp or you may finish up worse off than you are now.

Perhaps some of the more experienced electronics members can chip in here.

right... it's best to either leave it alone or perform a "bosectomy" and replace everything with aftermarket
bose systems have weird non-standard impedance as well as crazy wiring for the stereo system... there's no other way to really say it.... it's a PITA to deal with

I'm happy with mine, though it would be nice if it had better mid-range... oh well... it's either the crappy non-bose system and having to deal with breaking the stock LCD display functionality, or the stock bose system and not doing anything at all other than tweaking the settings a bit to make it sound halfway decent :)
