Before i begin to install my HID kit (purchased from VVME 55W kit) I just wanted to know whether I need to use a capacitor on my relay or not, as it seems that most guides require a capacitor if you plan on using the AUTO function on the headlights
I want to install the HIDs and don't really care for the AUTO function as I always manually control my headlights
So do I need to use a capacitor or can I just install without one?
If anything also, would anyone in the Mississauga area be open to help if I decide to get help?
Specs: 2005 Mazda 3-i

The only issue with a 55W kit is that technically the light output is higher than considered normal for road cars. I've had a 55W kit for years on my '04.
As for the capacitor, yes, you will need one in order to use the auto function of your headlights. There is a great writeup on mazda3forums.com on how to hack a battery harness to do it yourself, or there are retailers who sell error cancellers that will do the trick without cutting wires.

might want to ask around, some people have had 55w melting issues. ive seen 55w hologen bulbs melt the h7 adapters. the wires might melt if you dont beef them up. if its installed on the low beam itll be behind the projector lens. so it might be melting and you wouldnt even see it since the HID will be so bright. our cars were designed for 35w lights. 55w bulbs are designed with heavy duty trucks and other modified housings in mind.

A google search reveals thousands of hits of people asking whether a 55w HID kit will melt wires, and many anecdotal "oh yeah this guy had it happen" but I have yet to find a thread that starts with "55w HID melted my wires!".
Not saying it's not out there, just saying I can't find it, and I've never heard of it actually happening other than rumour and supposition. Plus, personal experience of having 55w HID's for years.
