So this came in the mail today! Very quick shipping from Hong Kong. Ordered on Sunday October 7, received Thursday October 11 in spite of a minor error of them forgetting to attach a commercial invoice. This'll be a quick review of what the unit DOESN'T DO that I'd like it to
First Impressions:
1. Installation:
Installation was very simple if you have stock unit on your 3. Just take off the trim, pull out the old unit and plug in the harness into the Eonon unit.
**If you want to keep your LCD with time and weather, do the installation with the key ignition turned to the "ON" position.
The fitment isn't quite as good as the stock one (obviously), took a little bit of pushing, shoving and grunting to get the unit in.
I hid the GPS receiver underneath the air vents and tied up the cables there.
CONS OF INSTALLATION:
Wire that lights the unit at night is not pre-installed ... need to do wire mod yourself
No more centre console AUX unless wire yourself
2. Interface / Software
Does not play MP4 files
Song display for MP3 is lacking and does not scroll the folders if the name is long.
Naming convention for the folders is hard to read because of lack of scrolling
AM stereo does not have 680 ... but rather 674 and 685, so unsure if I'll be able to get 680 news when I return to Toronto.
Does not give option to randomly play folder, or randomly play whole SD card / Disc. The stock HU unit has this function for mp3 discs
When scrolling through the folders, will automatically select and play songs from that folder ... so you can't be listening to a song and browse other folders as it will just switch to the first song in that folder.
I haven't played around with it enough yet to give any other useful comments. Will be doing the light mod tomorrow. :)

You can adjust the stereo. There is an option to manually select stations. I forget the exact steps, I will check my car later and update.

Seems if I set it to "usol" (or some word), you can get the 680 frequency ... it's playing a foreign language right now, don't know if it's because I'm in Windsor though.

On mine the orange and white wire (for the illumination) is not connected. Rather there is the blue wire. Apparently on new units the harness is not connected for illumination http://d5102.wikispaces.com/Mazda+3+Stereo+Harness

Not dialing in the correct Am station will be a result of the wrong region set from the factory. probably still set for Europe.
I had this same issue on the D5115Z... grrrrrr. Eonon gave me a pass code to the factory setting and it fixed that issue... at least.
Contact them if you are still having issues.

Unofficially ... here are the start up times for the iGO GPS software.
I have both iGo8 and iGo Primo on a single 8GB Kingston Class 10 SD Card, separate folders. It may have something to do with the sys.txt file, however, I have found iGo Primo to be more finicky with the sys.txt file and doesn't run if certain things are missing, so I've posted my sys.txt file for people to review.
I ran each software startup 3 times to get an average time.
Timer is started at the same time I press the "NAVI" button on the deck. (If you're really curious, I used the stopwatch on my Sony Xperia Ray running Jelly Sandwich custom ICS ROM to time it :D):

We could start a whole new thread on Win CE 6 and GPS systems.
I also have iGO Primo 2.0 working on my D5115Z and I like it better than the Zygic that came with the unit.
There are lots of threads about customizing the iGo nav software, different skins, etc.

I think the D5102 is running Win CE 5

I just bought this head unit.. can't wait...
this is my iGo Primo (boot time about 12-14 seconds):

skip_eula=1
experimental_features=1
[folders]
has_secondary_root=0
[interface]
show_exit=1
extra_settings=1
[other]
demo_enabled=0

disabled=1
FYI, was told iGo Primo is a lot smarter. Don't need all the screen resolution crap, it'll auto detect 1-time and it'll be saved to memory forever.

Oh wow ... that's awesome, I will try this out, thanks :D I put all that stuff in there cuz I was having some issues with it booting and having errors
How do you have your primo setup on your SD card though? I have both iGo8 and Primo on the same card, with Primo in a folder.

3 separate folders on a Sandisk Ultra:
- iGo Primo w/ Tom Tom (q3 2011 i think)
- iGo Primo w/ Nateq (q4 2011 i think)
- Syslogic
The memory card may make a difference. Just be careful of Kingston, Lexar, off brands and counterfeits. They often claim higher speed then what it's capable of.

I bought my Kingston at Staples ... since I'm in Windsor, don't have a Canada Computers here ... you are probably right though, the data transfer rates are terrible

ok so I'm now using your sys.txt, but it still takes 45 seconds to boot. I'm wondering if it's some extra maps, files that are trying to load. Additionally, are you sure you're running it on a D5102? It looks in your signature you have a 2010+ Mazda 3. let me know, thanks.

I was curious how I go about getting Igo Primo 2.0 for my D5102... do I download it and purchase an SD card and just plug and play?

Yup ... but I heard that it's slower than 1.2 on the D5102

Hopefully your experience will be more pleasant compared to OP. I've been looking into either this one or the Qualir version. Apparently the Qualir retains all the LCD functions (according to their website).

Awesome :) If you need anything (like maps) let me know, I also have lots of 1N4148 diodes here if you're getting that flickering whlie signaling.

I have the QL-MZD216 and its a great unit. You retain all the LCD display and all the functions display properly ie: sd, usb, tv , dvd etc.
You loose the 2 phone buttons on the steering wheel and you loose voice dialing if you have that function.

Nice. Too bad I have a first gen 3. I would have to get the QL-MZD501. I'm still waiting to see if anyone has bought a unit recently.

I've got the Eonon, it's not a bad unit for the price paid.
Good unit, does everything I want, but the interface is ugly and sometimes buggy.
Install was extremely easy. I have 2x12" Pioneer and a JL 500/1 amp hooked up to it. Didn't take that much effort and it was my first time doing any of this.
I'd rate it:
2/10 Difficulty to install
6/10 Quality
9/10 Value
As for the GPS, it's accurate, but I kinda wish the music vol. would lower when the GPS spoke, and there was more information when turning. It just says "Turn left in ___M".. Street names would be useful.

Just got the AUX cable adapter from Eonon! i haven't installed it yet ... will do so in a couple days. This will supposedly allow me to use the center console AUX port without having to splice any wires!

Finally got around to installing the AUX adapter on the D5102. Just as advertised and expected, the AUX port now woks again without having to splice into any wires!
So basically, the CD changer / AUX port from the original wiring plugs into the adapter, and the adapter contains L / R RCA male plugs which plug into the Eonon head unit. Then you select "AUX" on the unit, and you can use the center console unit! The only caveat is that the display will say, "NO AUX Input detected", but it will work.
This was the solution we've been all looking for to make that AUX console port work again!!!!! :headbang
