Hey guys,

After driving at night for a while, i felt like I have a great deal of trouble seeing the road with the original halogen light bulb.
I have been looking at HIDs, but people say Halogen equipped cars don't have "projector" housing that prevents scattering of light, hence it's illegal.

I just want to know if Mazda 3 2012 Gx sedan have the projector already, and if i want to get something like 6000k, would I have to get the ballast + kit?

Thanks in advance

Yes, already projector. Just need ballast and bulbs.

is there a specific brand that are long lasting/ safe.
would this attract cops in terms of illegal lighting, etc.

No you'll be fine. I'd get 6000k or 4300k bulbs if you want maximum brightness without any attention from the police. They should be a direct plug-and-play based on your model year.

As for a specific brand...unless you want to shell out at least a couple hundred for OEM-quality stuff, I'd stick with a basic slim ballast kit.

Happy modding.

I was shooting a prom last year and had a few moments down time and was talking to the police officer that was there. I asked him about the headlights on my car, specifically HID's and the yellow fogs. I asked him what he thought in terms of legality's. He said "It is illegal, and if you get in an accident you're probably going to be at fault because the lights aren't legal. Personally would I pull you over? No, I probably wouldn't even notice." he also went on to say "if you think court is about who is right and wrong you're an idiot, court is about who can tell the best lie." I liked this cop haha.
