Look out for a TM3 Tail of the Dragon meet/event discussion in the next week or two. Planning with costs, and possible dates has already started.

whoa that's crazy. Can picture a huge semi coming at you and having to pull out on your side of the road just to make the turn - yikes!

Holy crap! I'd probably shit my pants if I were to drive on that road with semis making huge wide turns..... although I think that Bolivia's death road is worse

Lots of close calls with drivers admiring the view and bikes leaning too close to the double line. Well worth the trip down to the Dragon. You will definitely learn more about your car if this is your first time taking it on a road such as this. Also, there are other roads in the area that are not as famous but just as great. Unfortunately, while I was there a couple of weeks ago, 3 bikers went off the road, one seriously injured. Luckily, one of our members was an EMS employee and provided medical help until the ambulance arrive after 45 minutes. This area has limited cell phone and internet access so we relied on our two way radios which the local authorities also use. Two weeks before that a biker went off the cliff and died. Scary stuff if you decide to push your or your vehicle beyond its limits.
On a positive note, this is something that Ami and I have been taking about for the TM3 group. On my GenSport Group, we do two runs per year (spring and fall). Lodging and food are very reasonable especially since most cabins can fit 3-5 people at a great group rate.
Note: there are professional photogs along the dragon that you can purchase pics of your cars from a couple of days later! My avatar is one of those that I purchased.
