I've got a relatively new 2012 mz3 which i got in Jan. Been pleased with it for the most part but recently noticed that there is quite a bit of noticeable bumpiness while going < 40km, while cruising at lower speeds u could say. Wondering if this could be a symptom of a rotor issue? There have been quite a few potholes(live in the hwy 7 area) and curb hopping.

obviously i know it's impossible to be completely smooth but this is quite noticeable, every 5 seconds or so? Give or take

any help appreciated as it's quite annoying. coincidently since this started happening fuel economy has been pretty bad also, almost feels like when accelerating there is a drag on the car. Keep in mind I've already check tire pressure and it's at th, correct value of 35 already

I'm sorry, did you say "curb hopping"? You could have bent a rim or knocked the alignment out. Highway 7 is terrible and for the most part is quite rough right now.

The only time you would have rotor issues is if you were braking.

All I am going to say is that you start by taking it back to your dealership. It will be 100% covered to be looked at and fixed if necessary unless you have damaged something by hopping curbs...

braking it seems i do feel some sort of weird vibration, tho I'm wondering if it's part of the same problem

I know hwy 7 is not smooth, but even on roads that are pretty smooth its a rough ride at low speeds

If its a lot of hwy 7 driving, sounds like an alignment issue. Does it pull to any direction?

I would say a bit, but the alignment wouldn't explain even when not giving gas the sort of bumpy ride I'm experiencing would it?

literally when i start the car and let go of the brake, when it's rolling forward i can feel it's bumpy

Mabey a swollen belt in the tire?

sounds like a bent rim, not a warped rotor, a warped rotor you would only notice in higher speed braking

I'm thinking best case scenario the bumpy vibrations just need wheel balancing. Worst case scenario is bent rim and I'd need to replace. Will go to the dealership tomorrow and see what they say.

Thanks for the opinions :thumbsup

You could have knocked a weight off to throw the balance out but that's not too likely. if you've hit a curb I would definitely consider a bent rim. Let us know what you find out.

It's gotta be a bad tire or wheel

Well I ended up taking it to markham mazda, they checked the tires and said they didnt notice anything (the usual) so I guess I can assume its not an issue with a bent rim. All they said was if it gets worse then they can look into it more.

I'm inclined to agree with the bad tire / wheel.

Did you check to see how straight your wheels were when your steering wheel was positioned to its original point? I drive across highway 7 from yonge to woodbine every morning, but I'm not having any similar issues. On another note, possible nails, screws, etc?
