Hey y'all just got my 2007 Mazda3 sedan last week. Tinted my windows, now I'm trying to get my system set-up. I'm mainly going to order my audio parts from Sonic Electronix.
This is the setup I am aiming for so far:
Head unit: Pioneer AVH-P2400BT (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_42781_Pioneer-AVH-P2400BT.html)
Speakers: Still deciding, but I'm leaning towards Pioneer TS-A6874R (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_31096_Pioneer-TS-A6874R.html)
Amp: Not sure but probably a mono Alpine amp. But again, I'm unsure here.
Box: Sealed.
Sub: There is a bunch over here at Sonic Electronix, but I'm not sure which one really knocks hard. I only want one 12" sub and I want the 2012 model (also, would one 12" type-r alone be loud enough?).
Any suggestions for which amp and sub to get? Also open to recommendations for speakers, head unit etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!:D

How much do you have to spend on a amp and sub?

How much do you have to spend on a amp and sub?
Sub: No more than $200.
Amp: No more than $200.
All together, I don't want to spend more than $1k on my entire system.

You want one type r but wondering if it's loud enough. But at the same time you don't want to spend more than $200 for a good amp.
I'm running alpine mrp500 but there's a newer line that has its own line out converter built in.
I'm going to say one 12" is loud enough for me.

You are looking to pay more than $200 for a sub and ported box
Add installs if you're looking to get it done by someone and an amp kit as well.

Yeah I was just looking at the alpine mrp-m500 amp. its about $170 online, but with shipping and other fees it will probably come out to around $200 which is okay for me....and then as for the sub, I'm leaving towards a single Alpine SWR-10D4 or the SWR-12D4 sub (10 or 12") which ranges between $140-170.
I'm not too worried about the installation just yet, though I may get a friend to do it, or maybe go somewhere and get it done.
i have speakers, boxes, amps and 12 inch subs for sale pm me if your intrested

Alpines amps are really good for quality, size an efficiency aswell as Hifonics.
Subwoofers you could go with an alpine even though RE audio can handle alittle more power for the price.
Just remember the amp is key and dont expect anything that will work flawlessly with $200

I really like the Alpine 10" Type-R SWR-10D2. I know someone that had the previous version type-R (SWR-1042D) and they sounded amazing.
So how does this set-up look so far and what else would I need?
-Headunit: Pioneer AVH-P2400BT, w/ dashkit, wiring harness etc.
-Front door speakers: two Pioneer TS-A6874R.
-Rear speakers will be left alone. Been told I don't really need to change this and should leave these stock for the time being.
-Amp: Alpine MRP-M500.
-Sub: A single Alpine SWR-10D2 (sealed box).

i would consider saving up some money for a decent 2 channel amp and a component set of speakers.
The subwoofer has the potential to drown out 3 way speakers

Thanks for the advice everyone. You guys are all very helpful. :)
@ Khemiikalz: Your speakers look good! I'm mainly looking for one 10" sub to install (Alpine Type R, SWR-10D4), to save some trunk space. Hopefully I get nice sound with just one 10" in my MZ3 sedan.
@ 2010maztre: Thanks. I have been given some good advice that the amp may need a bit more more power so I may be going with a more powerful one. And of course the amp kit too. Sub box will be ported.

Dang that looks like it would get more than loud enough for my tastes.
Ahh...I remember the days of running two Kicker 12L7's off a 1500wrms Resonant Engineering 35.1D amp.
