Hi i was wondering if any rim experts could chime in.
I want to use my stock mazda rims as winters for an rdx.
i was wondering if the rims would fit and clear calipers?
the stock rim size for the mazda is 17x6.5 +52.5
and the stock rim size for the rdx is 18x7.5 +43
i believe both have a 5x114 bolt pattern

edit: bore sizes are 64.1 for rdx and 67.1 for the 3

An RDX forum might be a better place to ask.

you could even go down to 16x6.5 but that's not the problem, it's offset (which will determine whether you can clear the calipers).

This won't tell you 100% if they'll clear but it'll give you a good idea of the differences between the two wheels and how they'll fit:

yes i was thinking this as well.
so looking at both specs i was thinking that the mazda 3 rim can easily clear it since the offset for the rdx is +43, while the offset for the rim is 52.5.
unless im mistaken doesnt that mean i will have an extra 9mm of clearance from the rim to the bore?

The other thing that I would be concerned with is the hub bore size. The bore size for the Mazda wheel would be larger than the hub on the RDX.
My understanding is that the hub is what is designed to shoulder the load of the car (vertical force), and the lug nuts are designed to pull the wheel onto the hub (lateral force).
This opens up the potential of bending/sheering off wheel studs in the event that you hit pot holes, etc.

There are a couple of trains of thought on this, however that would certainly be my concern here.

Larger hub bore will not cause sheering off of wheel studs. Properly torque your wheels, and you will be fine. There is more of a potential for balance issues if the wheel is not sitting perfectly on the center of the hub (as an OEM wheel would)
