Doesn't sound like a good deal. Try Lockdown a sponsor here. I got mine done there and you get the doors and trunk buttons etc too.

The dealer said Mazda car key has be used to open the doors. i.e. same as before except starter remotely starts the car. If anyone has a Mazda starter installed, can you confirm this?

First post on here... But my experience with the starter was good. Didn't get an OEM starter installed, I got the 1500ft range one installed from FutureShop for just under $200. It came with 2 fobs, the bypass module, the starter and included the indtallation. the 2 fobs lock/unlock as well. Plus, even though I dont need the original fob, i have it as backup. In regards to using the key to unlock the door, I only use it early in the mornings so the car doesnt honk if I press the lock/unlock button on the new fobs. All in all, my answer is that $300 for only a starter seems like a waste.. When you can pay less and get more..

Can you let me know the name of the starter and which Futureshop location where you got it installed? I could not find Under $300 at FShop or Sponsors.
I got a 2wAy compustar remote start and it cost me $450 at future shop... My door locks work with remote and my car is manual.
the oem ones are garbage... At least the one my sister inlaw has in her car... On cold days it doesn't work lol
I thought I go with OME because I can go back to dealer if there there is a problem but if it garbage I rather not get it. Anyone else with OME starter?
Eaybulut, is your car an old one without the immobilizer. The Futureshop charges $150 in addition to their installed price for the module + installation of module. So, unless the starter with basic installed is $50, you cannot get it done at FShop for $200.

sorry for the late reply bud.. and refer to the lengthy PM response. I did get it when they had it on sale as well, so keep that in mind too. Don't know about an immobilizer, but mine required a bypass module, are we referring to the same thing? But $200 was definitely the cheapest I could find at that moment too, just be on the lookout, they usually have sales. Canadian Tire had a prostart with 2 FOBs that was on sale at the same time for $59.99 +HST.. but then I would have had to find the right bypass module and a private installer, etc..
I got mine installed at the dealer when I bought my car. The reason being it is covered under the new car warranty. Incidentally it is a compustar and I have had no trouble. It also locks and unlocks doors.

Is OME remote starter a Compustar or did the dealer install an aftermaket Compustar starter. The OME remote starter for Mazda 3 is Part#: 00008FL46B (http://www.mazdapartswholesale.com/OEMParts/mazda-136/0/00008FL46B.html). The Canadiam MSRP is $575, So price wise $300 installed appears to be good deal if the remote starter is good.

I can't answer the question as to whether the OEM remote start is compustar or not, when I got it, it was part of a package that included the all weather mats from Mazda, there was something else in the package as well but I don't remember what it was. The package was $599 and I negotiated it down to $400, this was at the time of purchasing the car new.

I just bought a 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv and was told that unless a "certified" installer company did the job it would not be covered under the extended Mazda warranty I bought, is that the case?
If you are concerned about warranty issues get the OME starter installed for $300 at a delaership. Brampton Mazda had it for $300 until the stock runs out. They may still have it. You cannot get a remote starter installed for less than $300. Ask them about whether it comes witha anti-grinding relay.
