Transmission Noise has me stumped.

Hey guys. I lurk on here but rarely post. Have a 2008 2.3L Auto Hatch. 130k on the odo. When i let off the gas at any speed it sounds as if I have a playing card rubbing against the spokes. its speed based and not RPM based. Propped the car up and spun the wheels by hand in neutral (car was off) and it definitely makes a clicking sound from the trans.
Has anyone had this issue? I searched and didn't find anything. Still shifts fine and the car is otherwise in great shape.

Output shaft bearing? Especially if the noise still happens while car is in neutral and you're spinning the wheels

That makes sense. Curious to see exactly what the dealer finds. Only makes that sound when the wheels are rotated forward. When I spin them the other way, no noise. Thanks for the input. :).

never told me what the problem was. put in a refurb/remanufactured one from Mazda. All covered under warranty thank god!

probably overrun clutch or sprags... they won't know because dealers are not allowed to disassemble/rebuild automatics under warranty
