I'm starting to have issues with the auto-light feature on my car. I always have it set to the auto feature, but recently they're pretty much always on. It could be a nice sunny day and they don't turn off. The odd time, I turn my car on and they are off, but shortly after it will turn back on. This tells me, the feature still works, but it's not reliable.
I'm thinking that the sensor might be blocked or dirty. Where is that sensor located?
Any other ideas?

Do you have a banner tint on the windshield? The light sensor should be where your rearview mirror is IIRC.

Edit: sorry. The first question wouldn't make any sense. The tint would be on the inside and because there's "dots" surrounding where the mirror is mounted, it wouldn't be tinted and wouldn't be covered.

Also want to mention that my auto wipers still work fine. My windshield is original also.
I've been reading that the sensor is located in the back of the rear-view mirror.
Any way to test that sensor? Is it easy to replace?

No banner tint.

Your auto wipers would work because the sensor monitors anything that hits your windshield with a certain force before it'll wipe. So if you were driving on a sunny day and your auto wipers turn on, a stone probably hit your windshield.

Anyway, the sensor could be malfunctioning. Take it back to the dealer if you still have warranty?

I'm out of warranty unfortunately. It's 2008 model. Just trying to avoid having to visit the dealer.
