hey, i have a 2012 mazda3 sky and i feel like the base model sound system is garbbbage! i mostly use my bluetooth from my phone and its so quite and staticy.. i tired using a cable and my ipod and that sounds even worse!!

i just went last weekend to see about upgrading it at a car audio store.. for a double deck, mount and amp it's roughly 600..
Im considering just getting new speakers and seeing it that'll make any difference at all...

Mine is okay, but the reception is pretty bad (i.e. 103.5 from TO is not picking up very well in KW) and that is likely because antenna is in the back window rather than on the roof. When the signal is strong like local stations they I don't hear any static.

Have anything plugged into the power ports?

z1035 is a poorly picked up station I find the best place to listen to that particular station is woodbridge to downtown and thats where it pretty much ends

My wife's car has shark fin on roof and it picks up z1035 a lot better than my car :( (that's really what I was comparing against).

If I am not mistaken the shark fins have an antenna booster in them Which makes them functional. Which in terms amps up signal. You can try and get the antenna amplifier that Canadian tire sells which i plugs in the back of the radio. I had one and I didn't notice a difference in my 05.The 2010 I have and have had both had factory installed amplifiers for signals for the radio. I find my sedan with the shark in from factory had better reception then The stupid horse whip I have on my speed. This morning I noticed 1035 and 925 to be comming in very poorly. Every other station works pretty good in comparison.

Edit: you cannot get the amplifier from Canadian tire because the antenna input is still a traditional round style and ours is a 2pin style on the gen 2s sorry about that

It is partially the fault of the stations, if you couldn't get say 98.1, 99.9, 102.1 or 104.5 then I could see an issue. I can get those to at least 35/115 and past Milton, through NewMarket, for sure and further North.

Those stations put out a stronger feed and smaller stations like college or niche stations, don't have the money to pump out the goods as strong

103.5 has always put out a crappy signal.

Edge and q107 go up to Barrie at least. 103.5 gets static north of 9, which is ALOT closer then KW.

i notice that i get a fairly good signal with my sky. On my drive from KW to ingersoll, i get 102.1 until woodstock/toyota. 91.5 i get clear in ingersoll, while 99.9 and Z103.5 cuts out just past woodstock.

I have the 2012 GS-Sky and yes the sound system is utter garbage.

THe static and whistling sound in the background is so loud, I can often hear it through the music; and I typically play music at volumes >35 on bluetooth.

Not to mention, when using the phone w/ bluetooth, I have to raise the volume to 45+ to hear properly.

Finally, bluetooth is so ****ing slow in this car. I change the song and it takes literally 4 seconds to acknowledge this.

Not at all impressed with the sound system in this vehicle.

i dont hardly use the radio but when i do z103 sucks and has since i got the car and is brutal in all the cars we have 3 of which are mazda 3s. the bluetooth from my 4 year old bold is slow but i expect it to be, but i usually just listen to my ipod and 1 of its 13,000 songs. my gfs car also has the shark fin on her hatch and didnt notice reception go up or down after the install and the other two sedans are about the same. i dont mind my sound system but i have an upgraded sub and amp and also listen to the volume from the ipod plug in ( accessory install to the dash) at about 35-45
