the forum is extra good today LOL.
to help the op. find out if the rim bolt pattern is 5x114.3. see if you can test fit the wheel onto your car. sometimes the steel rims wont clear your brake caliper. tire size is correct and will not throw off your speedometer readings.

i would have the dealer put them on. would they? is it safe?

where are you buying these? use this, http://adaptitusa.com/boltpatternguide.aspx.
offset and caliper clearance is what you need to look at. but the way winter steelies are designed, its hard to say even with the offset.

That is your 100%
VW does not have the same bolt pattern. They don't fit.

you have to check on the rim. sometimes its stamped on and says 5x112. the fact this guy had it on his jetta, means it will not fit on your mazda.

are they only tires?? if so, you can probably buy new rims for them. but the rims he has for sure will not fit. you can ask the seller if he/she is willing to separate the tires and rims for a lower price.

i would suggest 16x6 rims with 5x114.3 bolt pattern. look on the sponsor section on this forum for more help with offset and what not.

Tires will fit, you need new rims.
Bolt pattern is only one aspect apart from what is mentioned above. You also have to look at the hub size to ensure the wheel sits centered. Get hub centric wheels made for the Mazda and you are set.
