Hey guys.. i'm currently installing my new double DIN stereo.. I am using the Axxess steering wheel control module. I'm stuck though.. as per the instructions on the website. http://contentdocs.installernet.com/documents/vehicle/12381.pdf
It says 4) Connect pin 1P of the vehicles harness to ground.
That part of the harness according the wiring diagram is the Power Antenna.. do I just cut that wire and ground it all done??? Or can I run it back into the stock ground wire?
Also whats the power antenna??

mazdas do not have a power antenna, did you try it without doing anything to pin 1p?

I will check my book, I am pretty sure I am using the same adapter and I will get back to you after. I wired this one up myself back in February, and I will check what my manual said to do.

Haven't tried anything yet.. But I am going to try and bypass the parking brake bs.. So with the 12v relay I need to hook into something that gives the relay power after the unit is turned on so that would be the power antenna. looks like I'll be playing around a bit.
Hopefully I can just ground the thing again!?

Ok so I was reading the pin map wrong.. I was reading it on my adapter which is the mirror of the other.
I called the tech support. He said that I must pull the insulation back and tap into the actual wire of that location. Also ground the wire next to it??!
Only 3 wires and such a pain stupid module!!!

Did you get it all working? What type of unit is it also?
for bypassing your parking break, it all depends on the unit.

Well I have given up on the steering wheel controls.. I want to work in a warm garage in the spring before I have to carefully cut stock wiring harness wires!!
I think I hooked up the relay bypass to the wrong wire. Try again tomorrow!!

Just strip back further along the wire. It's not hard at all. If you do screw up and cut the factory wire for some reason, just connect it back together. Mazda's don't use data at the radio so nothing to worry about.
Steps 1-2 are straight forward.
Step 3-4 are done on the factory wiring. 3 is basic just make sure you have the proper pin.
Step 4 once you have the proper pin selected, strip the wire back, and just grab a piece of scrap wire and attach one end to that wire, the other end just ground out. So line your plug up and see which wire is ground and attach it the vehicle harness side. (same way, strip back into it and tape it up)
If you using a kenwood radio don't forget the resistor!
Once the wires are connected, turn the car on, the aswc will start flashing, hit volume up on your steering wheel controls. Give it a min. Light should go solid. Your all programmed.
PM if you need.

Where would be the easiest place to ground it out??

easiest way is in the same plug, the ground wire should be a black/green wire. Strip is back and just use a little wire between the two of them.

Seriously, tomorrow, I will take my radio out, and I will take a picture of what wires I used, and absolutely nothing is into the factory harness. Its all done on radio wire harness. and it works perfectly. What radio are you using? If Kenwood, I am running a Kenwood KIV-BT900, and I did not use any type of resistor.

It's just easier to do it into the factory harness when looking at the pins. With the ASWC your supposed to use a resistor inline between the blue/yellow and the brown wires otherwise the module thinks its a jvc.

Blue and white wire is the input from the steering wheel
Blue below it is the ground

Blue and white goes to white with green on Aswc unit
Red to power
Black to ground
And red/white (3.5mm connector) to radio. That's all I connected and it works perfectly without resistor.

Sorry to hijack your thread, didn't want to create a new one for essentially the same topic. I have the ASWC installed, and it works great for the steering wheel controls. However, the hands free buttons don't work (Pick up, End Call). I know i won't be able to use the voice recognition button, but the call buttons SHOULD work. Has anyone managed to get their bluetooth buttons working using the Axxess ASWC and an aftermarket headunit? I tried a PAC unit, but had some weird issues, so decided to switch to the Metra (Axxess) one. My headunit is a Pioneer AVH-P8400BH. Any help would be appreciated.
