View Full Version : LED Turn Signal Switchback Resistor Electrical Question

Hi all, I installed some LED switchbacks for my turn signals on my 2012 GX that I got from eBay. Since I had the hyperflashing issue I also installed some load resistors from V-LEDS, which slowed the rate of flashing. BUT, there's an inherent problem with the bulb for which I am not aware if there is a fix. Essentially even with my resistors installed the switchback functions in the following matter:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fv9pSBXxxP4 (as in, goes back and forth between white/amber when turned on)

What I was expecting was the load resistor to make it function like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E0mS9APIvw (as in, ONLY amber flashes when activated and goes back to white after signal is turned off).

My question: Is this something about the bulb design that you can't change and is my only solution to buy from a different company or can this be changed?

Thanks

did you try it at night? the parking lights stay on during night and flashes (or light on position). when it stay on, it should be white and amber.

in the day, the parking lights are off and they only flash amber for turning and hazard.

Yeah, you're correct. During the day time when only the DRL's are on and the parking lights are off, the white isn't present BUT at night when I turn on low beam (and consequently the parking lights too) it's both a mixture of white and amber.

As for the styling, to each his own I guess. The constant back and forth for me reminds me of a siren and not a turning signal, which just looks weird to me. I'm also worried that it may be more eye catching than the style of flashing I prefer and I might get pulled over for it as a result by some a-hole cop. I rather avoid that situation entirely.

There are two kinds of switchbacks. One flashes amber, the other alternates between white and amber. (Both are white then the signal is turned off)

i like the white and amber alternating signal. when your not signaling, its kinda like having an extra headlight bulb
