Hi, first of all, sorry if I am re-posting a question, but I did look around for quite a while and used the search feature but couldn't find any info so...

I've had my car for a few days now and I was wondering if it is normal that the engine coolant light stays blue for such a long time after I have started the car. I realize that it means the engine is cold but it's taking me about 10 minutes of driving before it goes off. Even if I let the car warm up for a few minutes before driving out. Is that normal?

It does stay on for a bit. Your car heats up faster under load, so just sitting at idle it'll take longer to warm up.

I had a rental versa and it did the same thing

This is normal, don't keep it idle thinking the coolant will warm up, driving it will warm it up much quicker and you're just wasting gas idling.

i let the car idle until it lowers down to about 1000rpm. then i drive it smoothly until it reaches temp. then i drive 10 minutes after that before i hammer it lol. i want to make sure ALL of my fluids are up to temp, not just coolant.

tip 1. read the manual. then when you are done. wait 1 day and then read it again. it has alot of answer. but yes the light should be on when cold off when normal and red when really hot.
