*SIGH* on my way to work my 3 just up and quit, everything off and without without warning.. this is the last straw for me and this car.
here is a list from the last 3 months:
all locks have stopped working, no reason at all
new-ish e-brake cable snapped, with very little force and for no reason at all
already replaced driver's side rear strut failure, no effort or reason
passenger side front shock failure, with no effort or reason
high beams come on automatically, again - no reason at all for this
clutch is slipping (though it is the original clutch, but still ... )
loud rattling at acceleration, no one has any clue what it is or where it is coming from
and today, it just dies .. travelling at 85 kmh, in the dark on a country road .. nice
i am taking it to have it looked at to get an idea of what it will cost me, then i will trade it in .. have had enough of being five hundred dollared to death every 2 to 3 months ..
that said, i'll have 18" RX-8 rims and 4 month old summer rubber for sale going up in classifieds ..
i love this car, it's super fun to drive, the community is amazing .. with the rust issues, two serpentine belts, broken valve seized throttle body and the above list .. it's time to move on
*deep breath* k, i feel better now

Still less issues than mikey32235 lol
I wonder where you take the car for service and repairs.
And I'm willing to bet at least 50% of your electrical issues can be traced back

I hate to say it but i have been taking it to Kieswetter, however have since stopped for other reasons. i am hoping it's not ECU.. i have also noted a marked decrease in performance an acceleration. this loud rattle i hear when i accelerate is concerning as well ..

your electrical issues to me without looking at the car thouroly makes me believe you have a bad Passenger junction box. A common thing to go on these cars sorry to say.
Your suspension I wouldnt blame anyone but the roads. and they could blow out at 10kms or 100,000kms and i consider that normal maintenance

PJB was my first thought as well. Although I'm not as experienced as McGuyver.
As far as I know. Very expensive part.

If you are willing to go through the scrap yard you can get them for roughly 100-150$ and I know standard has some pretty good warrantys aka lifetime for a decent price

Scrapyard is my favorite place for certain things.
I fixed my moms jeep heater fan for 15 bucks and 30 min total.
Dealer wanted 300 just for the part and 300ish labour. ( it was some electrical credit card looking thing behind the glove box. )

No matter what the issue is, it sounds that OP is losing condifence and love to his ride anymore.
Time to move on to your next car.

Well OP is getting worked up about things that just happen because of use.
Slipping clutch,
front shocks
Rear struts
ebrake cables- Ive only ever had 1 cable snap on me and that was on my pathfinder after 12 years on the road. All depends on usage to right. Heck maybe the newish cables had a defect in them. who knows
Now for the
power locks
highbeams
again to me without diagnosing it, sounds like a Junction box and lets face it, electronics do fail if you drive a Geo metro or a Rolls Royce
The loud rattling could well have been a part of the reason why the car just "quit" The possibilities are endless
The rust ok yeah mazda used crummy metal but I had an 05 for 4 years and didnt see a spec of rust on it. Mind you I was washing the thing every weekend and never once rust proofed it
Once you break it down and look it over doesn't seem so bad

I have an 04' with 199,6xx km on it, I'm hoping for it to bite the dust so I have an excuse to get a new car lol.
Besides rust(and its pretty bad), bad fuel economy (400~ per tank), and a constant CEL light (not worth fixing), it just won't die :(

LOL, the CEL may just = the poor fuel economy

One of them is P0446 - Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit, not sure what the other one is. The car also constantly emits a lot of sulfur - everywhere I go it smells like rotten eggs. Sometimes the smell wafts into the car cabin. Bad for dates, awkward conversation topic, learned that the hard way haha.

i am getting worked up because everything is breaking all at once .. i could give zero eff's about the rust issue, i am done with that.. All the other stuff is happening by normal wear and tear. I am not blaming the car or Mazda. Time to move on. I am not going to invest any money to fix this stuff when i can get into a new one with no worries (at least a good warranty). You are right though, the possibilities are endless .. it just sucks that it's all happening at once. Crap timing for this .. lol
