Hey guys,

It's been a while. :)

Have a 2008.5 sedan.

Friday night went to my car started it and car would not get out of park
No horn no brake lights. Figured it was the horn fuse.

So left the car and came back at it today, checked the fuses all are good.

Problem is now the car cranks and does not start, still no horn no brake lights and well probably cant get out pf park.

Any ideas before i get it towed?

Thanks

damn.... try hooking another battery to it? (like a jumpstart) you might of needed to let the car run....and now you gotta charge it..... but thats just a guess.....

Sounds like battery. Similar thing happened to me....does the car "click" when you try to start it?

Called a tow, he got it started.

Used some quick start spray, he said water must have gotten into the line or maybe some freezing. Car seems to start fine now.

But still cant get out of park no brake light and horn.
The fuses looked fine, but i changed the 15A horn fuse anyways.

Still no go, does anyone know if the horn relay is also connected to the shift lock and brake lights? I could try replacing that.

Other than that im out of ideas and will have to take it in this week to the dealer.

Maybe to do with the brakes electrical? Since you have to have the brake engaged to get out of park maybe the system doesn't know you're got the brakes on.

Check F3 in the main fuse box. 40A fuse that feeds, among other things the horn and brake light.

F38 in the PJB is the fuse for horn and brake lights, but since the car won't start, F3 looks more likely (no, I don't know what else F3 feeds. Still looking through the schematics!)

Well i didnt check te PJB fuse nor did i check F3,

Can you replace F3 on your own? And in what cases would F3 blow out. I think at this poit to be safe i might as well let mazda look at it as im under warranty, i can just pay them
For the main fuse i guess, assuming THAT is the problem :/

Fairly certain noisy crow is correct in his assesment. Happened to me before.
you can change it yourself.
do you have upgraded horns ? Or led reflectors ?

Led reflectors yes

Hella horn no. Ami/NC do you know what type of fuse F3 is aside from being 40A i assume MAIN is listed in the owners manual as BTN?

Your reflectors are likely wired to the same fuse, I know mine were. Water may have gotten inside your reflectors and caused a short, killing the fuse.
Not sure what type of fuse.

Water actually did get into one reflector and its been like that for a year or so.

Here is what i dont get. If it were the BTN/MAIN fuse, wouldn't other things be not working as well?

I was going to make an appointment with the dealer, but i guess i will try replacing the BTN. Car is parked at my parents at the moment, so can't test anything right now.

Everything is grouped in small batches, and fused separately. 1 fuse for everything would be the crappiest design ever.

Check to make sure your wiring is not shorting out for your led reflectors. You should check the wiring wherever you tapped for power and ground.

It sounds like your brake switch is not working.

Fuses ok? Probably your brake switch.

UPDATE:

Disconnected the wiring for the damaged led reflector and checked F38 in the PJB, F38 was blown.
Bought a new fuse an all is good!

Thanks for the help guys!

I have not been on here in forever, but could really use some help! I am having the same problems with my 2008 Mazda 3. I have replaced the brake switch, and replaced the high brake light on the trunk. The bulb was burnt out, and looked almost a tad melted/burned, but the metal connections all look good. I checked a few fuses for the horn and trunk lights, but they all were good. Through this post I discovered F38, and sure as can be it was blown! The only problem is it keeps blowing the fuse asa a soon as I press on the brake. What other problems could it be? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

Start by checking for shorts to ground in the wiring at each tail lamp.... Wire rubbing against asharp edge etc, bulb has failed with a short, etc.
