I'd like to throw in whatever there is after market to make the shifter solid. It appears I have a short shifter already, I'll have to take a pic however it has slop. It could very well be the TWM as it has the shift boot in blue leather with blue stitching and i think the shifter is not stock it may be the twm one...

I have seen that there are quite a few parts. From shifter bushings, some kind of levers, the shifter itself, plates, it all confuses me... if someone could break ti down to me.

I saw JBR has a few bits and pieces and a nice heavy shift knob too, that may be a nice addition too. I have a 1lbs shift knob on my race car :) It's shifting heaven hehe.

This is for a 2006 mz3 2.3l :)

I had a similar problem in my old Spec V, hopefully my basic experience can help you ..
I suggest starting with a heavy shift knob (the heavier, the better in my opinion, really helps to quickly engage gears)
After that, I installed bushings and that changed the shifter. It was solid and I wouldn't miss gears anymore, since the flex of the rubber was gone.
I finished with a short shifter, and altough it takes times to get used to, it really changes the feeling. I never had a shifter plate, but from what I've read, it only shortens the distance and some users said that entering gear was a bit harder after. Just my 2 cents though :) Good luck with what you're looking for !

Do yourself a favor and stay away from JBR. I had their shifter and it was terrible. Get the TWM one for your car if you really want to drop the coin get the full replacement shifter unit from TWM. I have driven a car with it installed and it is a huge improvement over stock. This particular vehicle had the shift plate on the transmission, the replacement unit and the shifter bushing. This was on a 2nd gen car that I had the chance to test it out. A pricey ay to go but well worth it

Don't forget shifter bushings. TWM sells solid metal shifter bushings.

I just put in the jbr short shift plate and bushings, the only thing with the short shift plate is that you cant "lazy" shift, gotta make sure the clutch is all the way in. but if your just looking for tighter shifting start with solid bushings, when i took out my stock ones, the center aluminum spacer in between the rubber bushing (not too sure what its called) were all oval instead of round and i only have 60k on my car. and by putting the solid bushings in, there no play, and very tight... like a nun..

I found 3rd gear to be extremely notchy to the point where you had to put 100% concentration for it to go in compared to my TWM one . All the other gears were semi ok but TWM shifts like butter.
