All in all, I'd suggest a HID kit over LED

i thought led low beam headlights aren't really a good idea as for how much light output they give

Hey do they make H11 LED headlight bulbs

Not really sure what you are asking about the headlight on a mazda 3 is an H7 bulb which they do make LED bulbs for

http://www.lightinthebox.com/h7-car-light-in-a-pair-5050-3-6w-lumen-lm-270-color-temperature-6000-6500k-12v-with-18-leds-white-light_p400175.html

the H11 is the foglight or daytime running light

as far as I know

LED lights are more for looks really, i would not recommend them for headlights at all. they are decent for fogs, turn signal, interior, and reverse lights (2nd gen) but thats about it. if you want to upgrade your headlights HIDs are the best way to go or you can get aftermarket xenon halogens which are much brighter than stock halogens and not too expensive either (if you dont go to canadian tire and get those nighthawk ones lol)

Just a warning to everyone, I ended up buying these from eBay (H8 for DRL on a MS3):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/181012708003?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2F i.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D1810127 08003%26_rdc%3D1

Unfortunately the bulb is too fat to fit the hole in the housing :(

If it's just the tip of the head, shave down edges and it should be able to squeeze right through the opening. My turn signal bulbs were like that too.

I tried this h11 on my mazada5 fogs. I was not impressed. Installed HIDs instead. Tried 9005 on hi beams too, now I'm using nokya for hi beam. I still got the H11 (48 smd) and the 9005 (64 smd) lying around somewhere.

^ ah he broke the chain lol.

anyways, LED's barely give out any light output with headlight housings unless you get one of the really expensive ones that focus the beam. you can get LEDs with amazing throw....but the projector lens will dissipate the beam and lower the light output. unless you did some sort of retro fit with an LED with amazing throw. and at that point your only going to concentrate most of the beam to create a meter diameter circle of light. (with w/e that fits in out headlights). we use flood lights on our complex and they are so bright, you would think thyre HIDs. but theyre huge boxes with heat sinks and reflectors from another world.

in the end, dont replace essential lights (mainly headlights) with leds. on that note, im switching my 68 led reverse lights with 102 leds

+1 on the LEDs, if yo're just using those LED bulbs from fleabay, it won't work very well. LEDs are best used difused, not in a reflector/projector lens.

My Volt has LED DRL's, but they aren't strips but a cluster behind a diffuser-sort of thing. These LED DRL's are brighter then the HID projectors, but the LEDs have no projection, they're very bright though. It's really hard to explain :p

but do they put any light onto the road though. just because its bright AF, doesnt mean its putting light on the road. DRLs are meant for you to be seen in dark daytime situations, not for you to see. im sure your projectors on the side takes over onces its dark and they use oem HIDs with what looks like a clear lens (lucky)

nice volt too, never seen a yellow one aha
