i got 2012 mazda3 sky last week. and i have driven about 700km since then. (70% highway, 30% city)
when i was in korea, i had manual shift drivers license. (there are two kinds of drivers license, one is automatin, the other one is manual)
i have got manual shift drivers license, and i changed it to Ontario G license when i came here.

when i drivng, i feel lots of shock (especially, 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd)
i usually shift gear at 2500 rpm.

i want to drive smoothly, but it is difficult for me.
it feels like i am riding horse.

i need to excercise; however, i dont know how to drive smoothly.

do you have good idea or technic for smooth driving?

i really want your advice.

Let the clutch out slowly instead of quick releases. In the lower gears, make sure you keep the rev's up.

Just remember the clutch controls the power and as you gradually let up, you are moving the power to the wheels.

Learn how to drive properly? You need to match the RPM with your speed and smoothly let out the clutch (but don't ride the clutch).

if your having problems with driving a manual: I would ride the clutch a little to begin with until as stated by steven, that matching rpm with speed becomes second nature.

best way is to go in a parking lot and practice starting and stopping, shifting from first to second and getting it as smoothly as possible.

My advice is be one with the car. Know the limits of your car. It's all about feeling it and understanding how the car responds to your every move.

This is in addition to what people had already said...

lol being one with your car is crucial!

But like the others have said, just keep practicing and I'm sure you'll get used to it soon. It's better to ride the clutch a bit here and there while you're still getting used to it, as opposed to stalling everywhere. The parking lot suggestion helps as well. Go into an empty lot and just practice your starts over and over till you get the feel of the car in your blood. You may look like a fool doing it, and waste a bunch of gas, but it definitely helps.

its like a seesaw, the more clutch you have in the less to no gas you press. the less clutch you have in. the more you would press the gas in. until clutch is out and gas is pressed or if clutch is in all the way no gas is pressed. sounds like you just need more practise to get it smooth, but doesnt sound like shift shock.

Thank you for your reply.
i tried to drive smoothly, however, the car is moving like horse whenever i shift 1st to 2nd.
unfortunately, most of my friends are driving automatic.
i want to drive my car with manual driver.

I'm sure members here would be willing to help to see if everything is ok.

Maybe you can come to a meet as there would be lots of manual drivers there.

less clutch, more gas? it's a balancing act between the two pedals to get smooth shifts
