I have had two separate incidents with the service department since I purchased my 2009 Mazda 3 from Gyro. The first incident was in December of 2010. I brought my car in for scheduled two year maintenance, and as far as I can tell, the maintenance was performed correctly. Prior to the maintenance, I mentioned in passing that I was slightly concerned about the clutch. 20 minutes after the service started, a service advisor came and told me that I would need to replace the entire clutch based on an inspection of the clutch. I was surprised, given the age of the vehicle, and declined the service. I went for a second opinion, and they advised me not to do the replacement as there were no issues. They also told me it would take much longer than 20 minutes to inspect a clutch. At this point, I stopped using Gyro for service – in my three and four year maintenance at other dealers, the clutch has been road tested and found to be perfectly fine.

The second incident has just happened recently, as I decided to replace the cabin air filter for my car. My wife came in and gave all of our details (the service advisor was adamant about getting the correct car pulled up in the system and linking it to the invoice). It wasn’t until I had the old cabin air filter removed (and most of the dash disassembled) that I realized the staff had given us a replacement filter for a 2010 Mazda 3. Needless to say, it didn’t fit. When I called the dealership, it turned out that the service department was closed, and sales couldn’t even access the parts to make a simple exchange for me.
