Hey guys, I'm looking to pickup a sub and amp, and keep the OEM headunit and speakers for now. However, I'm a bit confused about the impedance (ohms) and if the amp will be able to handle the load. I've googled a bit but still don't really understand what the ohms means???

I was thinking about:
SUB: 2 x 10inch JL audio in sealed enclosure. 400w total (200w each), 2 ohms. $150
AMP: either
1) Alpine class D mono amp. 300w@4ohms / 500w@2ohms. $200
2) JL Audio Class D mono amp. 500w@4ohms / 1000w@2ohms. $200

Are these combinations adequate? Also will is provide a decent kick? Don't need to shake the block, but I would like to enjoy my trance & house music.

Dual voice coils at 2 ohms would take a 2 ohm load from the amp.
So anything that puts out 400minimum would be a good bet. you can put 250watts into them aswell so not to worry about over powering them
