View Full Version : 401 Dixie/Ontario Mazda is a joke. How are they operating?
Im sitting in here right now. 1 hour and 21 minutes and counting. Im in here for an oil change. Im still waiting to be assisted with my 1:45 appointment. They're not even close to being busy either.
I am about to walk out.
Other cons
Shitty parking lot that's not shoveled.
Rude service desk girls. They make you go sit down at the other side of the building so youre not in their site.
Cold in the dealership
Salesman wondering around with dicks in their hands.
I should have read the reviews before I came.

Just leave and take your business elsewhere.

How did it go? Did you leave?
I left a few minutes after posting.. I walked by a bunch of service people standing around. No one said a word. One guy stared at me as I drove off.
Great way to start my birthday

OK....
did you consider talking to a service advisor?
Or
atleast stand by their desk to show that you wanted service?
if that is the case then I can see why you are mad but it sounds like
you said you were sitting down
and
you sound like you spoke to a receptionist

I purchased my car from Ontario Mazda, and as soon as I signed on the dotted line I was ignored, lied to (or at least incorrect expectations were set, and made to wait around a lot). Follow-up dealings with them (bought out a lease) was just as bad. Now that said, I've recently had to deal with the now '401 Dixie Mazda', and for this experience they went out of their way to help me and make things right. So, either I just ran into a nice manager there, or perhaps they aren't as bad as they used to be.

Kind of curious myself.
Most of the folks on this forum know I'm one of the few who have never had an issue with this dealership. I still continue to bring my other Mazda there.
But I will admit Fatima and Rachel are the only service advisors there that I talk to, as the other 2 SA's are useless and have no clue what they're talking about.

New Mazda owner here (05 GT Sedan) and took my car in a few weeks ago after being quoted $130 + tax for a flash and thermostat replacement. Took the day off to bring it in, only to be told it would actually cost $370 + tax. I was pretty clear with what work I needed done when I asked for a quote, and the person who responded acknowledged exactly what I has asked for when giving me the quote. I got the work done just because I wasn't going to take more time off to go elsewhere, but I am disappointed with the huge difference between the initial quote and what I was charged.
Had I known it would have been significantly more than $130, I would have gone to Canadian Tire instead. (I work for home office and get pretty good discounts on parts and service) Wish I had read the reviews on this website before dealing with 401-Dixie Mazda. I called another dealership (Bay Mazda in Belleville) asking for the exact same service to see what they would quote for it, and they came in at $370 taxes/fees included PLUS no diagnostic charge... which 401-Dixie admitted I would have been charged, but because I was right about what service was needed, and they felt sorry about the quote mix-up, they waived for me. Some favour that was... considering another dealership wouldn't have charged for it in the first place.
The funny thing is I avoided my own company because of its reputation with service. In this case, I would have been better off with Canadian Tire... minus the flash which could only be done by Mazda.

If you didn't sign for the work prior to it happening I don't see how you are responsible to pay charges you didn't agree to

He wasn't obligated to, but didn't want to waste another day off work going somewhere else.
Stealership - they stole your time.
Similar happened to me many years ago - and glad too because now I always say: Learn to do your own oil changes quickly! (friend's garage, sidewalk, whatever!).
Pogi. It seems as if you know certain people who work there.
I never updated this thread but I LOL'd when they called back a few days later and left me a voicemail saying that I'm "due" for an oil change. Also that I made an appointment and never showed up. Seriously ****ing LOL'd.
They are a disgrace to customer service, and I'm actually getting pissed off thinking about the whole situation again. I was a push over that day. Never again.

Thats funny! The next day, I got a call from them (from the girl who gave me the wrong quote too!!!) Asking me if I would like to set up an appointment to replace my engine mount.
Bahahhaha...

I knew that, and I did reluctantly agree to having the work done, because I had already waited a week for the appointment and took the day off to have the work done. I was also told they would try to help me out on the cost, since I did have the original email with the quote and I was pretty disappointed with the mix up. I ended up getting $20 off my total bill. Big savings right there folks!

Update on this story... I took my car into Canadian Tire to get my tires swapped and have an oil change done, and got them to take a look at the engine mount for me. There is no broken mount. They came back asking me who told me I had a broken mount, and I told them the story about my Mazda experience. WTF Mazda!!!!???

I've been to 401 dixie mazda for several oil changes, and it was only because they were able to get me in on very short notice (like immediately). I can see why they've always got room to get you in. At 401 dixie mazda an appointment doesnt mean anything. Even for a routine oil change I've never been in and out in less than 2hrs. My appointment is for 11am but they dont even bring the car inside until 2. The Only reason I would (or did) ever go here was the marginal convenience it afforded me at that point in time. If I have time and foresight to book an appointment ahead of time, you'll never catch me there ever again for any reason. The receptionist's aren't particularly friendly, the salesmen are resoundingly useless and the service is slower than any other dealership I've yet encountered.
My single piece of advice to the powers that be at 401DM is to take a more proactive approach to customer service and dont take appointments you can't process in a reasonable amount of time. few other businesses get to take advantage of people the way you seem to do every single day. An appointment should mean something and if you continue to believe otherwise I can't see you lasting very long.
one extremely dissatisfied (periodic) customer.
