yeah I watched this video this morning, lots of great cars in this video, and some pretty dumb driving as well. I can understand both sides of the argument on this.

found it great at the end, when they are all sitting around complaining about the drivers and cars, and the narrator asks "have you ever spoken to the drivers to ask if they would behave?" and all of them go "no".

Very intresting video. While some may say its an issue about noise and safety, the locals are being fairly racist in this video. The fact that the police are harrasing them based off their nationality/what they drive is just plain wrong. I was really pissed when the police guy impounded the car because he thought he did not have insurance when he didnt, and also the part where they pulled over the 2 guys for now front plate ( In some cars there isnt really a proper place for the front plate ) :loco . Also its funny that none of them actually approached the drivers. The drivers seem to be down to earth. My dad used to live in Saudi arabia with my mom ( I was born there as well but have no memories because i moved to canada at an early age) and from what I heard, these guys are actually down to earth people. The locals are just making excuses to get rid of this "Gulfi" invasion :complain

You think the 20 year olds who don't work but own $500k cars are down to earth because they appeared to be on a video? Or because your dad lived in Saudi Arabia but you were too young to remember...

Those guys are idiots and act like they can do whatever they want...having someone actually go up to them and ask them to stop if like to see that on video and get their reaction.

I didn't even watch the whole video, but yes there were a few people on their that totally hated the rich Arabs and there cars and the culture etc. That said, when people are used to things being the same for generations they won't take too kindly to change, not saying its right or wrong.

Bottom line is this. These guys have more money than anyone here could imagine, without having to do really anything to have it. It makes people jealous. But money doesn't give you the right to do anything you want.

If these guys were to come to Toronto and do this shit it wouldn't end well.

I agree on how their driving is dangerous and immature. I just dont think people should be racist about it as this has nothing to do with race since im sure plenty of wealthy british people also do the same. Also not all of these kids had their money handed to them from mommy and daddy. Many of them actually saved up their money. Also The economy there is better and people make more money there. That plus the fact that many sources of entertainment ( clubs/bars) are forbidden there, leads them to have the money to buy these cars. This is not always the case though but it is something to keep in mind. Also instead of pulling them over and harrasing them for proper insurance and licenseplates, why doesnt the police just point them to a racetrack ( Im fairly certain there are a few racetracks in the UK). Also if they live in a busy area like this in the middle of a big city, it is kind of expected there will be some kind of noise during the day ( at 2 am at night is a different story).

A 24 year old has over 2 million dollars worth of cars because he saved up?

Do you realize how stupid that sounds?

Perhaps he owns a company and makes money that way. Also to put into perspective how the economy is there: You will see in the video that the salesperson at the dealership saying he drives a Porsche Cayenne but "it is like a Hyundai" over here. Many of these rich kids actually invested some of their money in companies.

It's funny that you seem obligated to defend these guys

They asked one of the guys what he does and he said he was in school

I don't care what the economy is like there, it can't be that great for everyone because if it was you would still be living there instead of here in Canada driving a Mazda 3 asking about driving control on a parking lot because you can't pay $300 to get professional drivers training

I don't go clubbing anymore and between my wife and I we do very well for ourselves and I don't drive a Lamborghini

Maybe I should move to Dubai or Saudi Arabia, then come to Bradford for the summers and race my lambo up and down your street

While there is definitely evidence of irresponsibility demonstrated by the young guys in their exotics, there's also a great level of racism. The majority of these Knightsbridge residents are denying the fact that their once "quaint little English town" is modernizing. Things change. I'm specifically talking about the guy who yells at the visible minority who bumps into him on the street, calling him an idiot. Seriously!? If it was a British white guy who bumped into him, they wouldn't have that issue. Then there's the woman who said she'd lived there all her life, and her partner or whoever brings her a rose every day. These people aren't being put out of their homes, nor are they being asked to leave. There's a bit of noise from the cars, and yeah, people have been driving erratically. I live in the middle of downtown Toronto and almost get smacked by a taxi every single time I drive my car. You don't see us lobbying to get taxis banned.

The rent-a-cop who seized the guy's Aventador because he didn't "believe his insurance was valid" was pure garbage. I'd have told him to call his supervisor or whatever and not touch my car. The owner was being respectful and didn't try to hop in his car and leave, which demonstrates respect from his side. If the guy's paperwork was legit, I'd be filing charges against the city for unlawful seizure of the vehicle, not to mention distress caused by the inconvenience.

It's a two-way street.

I agree 100% that the people they interviewed as the "locals" were disgusting people for the most part, especially the guy who yelled at the guy with the umbrella.

There were two completely separate issues demonstrated on that video. When I have some more time I might watch the whole thing but both issues were pissing me off

It seemed like an hour of mostly sensationalism. There are out-of-touch millionaire-kids, plus old Kensington residents pissed off about loud cars with underlying racism, but neither was satisfactorily dealt with IMO.

The main issue is one of noise and reckless driving. If there are enforceable sound levels, ticket for that. Police the area at night during the months all these cars show up, obviously the most used streets are relatively well known. Plus if you deter a few people (probably less than 200) from bringing their cars and driving irresponsibly you're not going to put a huge chill on the investment from Arabs in London.

you make some good points it most certainly is disgustingly racist but some of your arguments are quite silly. Like the fact as Loki pointed out a student saving up to buy a super car...(maybe if the economy is good) But 2 or 3?? And down to earth they most definitely are not...the one guy said "ya if you have the money for a super car you have the money to pay someone to look after it." A student would not be able to do this and is not down to earth at all.

Maybe they do own a company and make money that way...but I can guarantee they didn't build the company or at least not entirely it would have been given to them by a parent or relative, in which case its basically the same as driving daddy's car.

When I was going to school I was working and I could barely afford rent and food and living costs, let alone be able to go to the club for a night...so forget being able to save up to buy a car, forget a super car...

I am sure there are rich British people too who have super cars, but I am sure they are more responsible with them and don't go terrorizing residential and city streets with them. And many invest in Luxury cars like Rolls Royce or Mercedes or Bentley's rather than super cars

Aitch
01-08-2013, 12:45 PM
Yes the economy is different there, but there is no way to reap all that cash without a healthy starting investment. Otherwise we'd be doing it too.

And that one kid's comment that if people in Britain just stopped going to the casino and eating out they'd have the same cars? Again, yeah right. By that measure you shouldn't be paying someone to look after your cars either.

lmfao I love how when they are talking about by them going clubbing they are helping many different industries, and they show popcorn as the restaurant industry and some other pictures then he says "the clubbing industry" and then at 37:15 they show a picture of a girl shaking her butt and the guy says "...anything"

i am disregarding everything that has been said so far,

but the resident had every right to yell at the kid with the umbrella.

#1, he walks in front of them when im assuming there is a camera obviously taping them
#2, the kid barges through between the resident and the post, zero regard for the resident standing there
#3, he hits the GUY IN THE ****ING FACE WITH THE UMBRELLA< AND DOESNT GOD DAMN APOLOGIZE

racism, stfu. the kid was a brat, regardless of his skin colour you dumb ****s

Very interesting documentary. They seem genuine and down to earth given the amount of wealth they have. IMO, leave the guys alone as it seems like a whole bunch of cranky old people complaining. Most millionaire 'boy racers' are well spoken and well educated. Aside from the brainwashed fanatics on television, Arabs are very respectable people that believe in family, education, and religion.
