2008 2.3l Mazda 3 Sedan
Winter driving
90/10 city/hwy
Tire pressure is good
Air filter and spark plugs good
I don't drive heavy (quick acceleration, late breaking etc.)
Getting under 300km on a full tank.

Would these numbers seem bad if it was your car?

If it does seem worse than normal what would any of you recommend?

Btw, this has been consistent over more than 10 fill's.

It's winter and I still average ~550/tank. I do ~90% highway though.

I have the same car, and I get close to 500 km out of a tank of gas, about 70% highway driving, with no pretty much no effort made to conserve gas.

Yes, numbers would be bad if it was my car.
It is worse than normal as other have said. If it was my car I'd probably sell it if that was an option.

+1 i get 550 max (to empty) with about 80% highway...i would be pissed if i got under 300km a tank. thats not normal at all. did u change the tranny fluid recently? u should get ur fuel injectors cleaned as well, probably a full fuel system flush

When was your last oil change? Also I would recommend changing the air filter too, check if the spark plugs and wires need replacing, every little bit counts!

Assuming the op actually knows ehat hes talking about. He states that the air filter and spark plugs are fine. Unless its been a VERY long time. Oil shouldn't affect fuel economy that much, and 3's don't have plug wires. We have coil packs. If one was malfunctioning he would have a CEL.

If i do almost all city driving oh my 2.0 I get about 450 out of a tank during winter. Your pretty far off that but without knowing more info I wouldn't be able to comment on what could be wrong.

Any mods? When were the plugs changed and what brand? Any CEL's? Ect.

sounds pretty bad considering my speed is getting 450-550 depending on my foot

On my 2007 Mazda 3 2.3L sedan I consistently get 11L / 100km during winter.

In the Summer I get 10L / 100km.

I do about 80 / 20 city/hwy.

Maybe take the car to a local mechanic or dealer?
