Some parts fell out from my car?

So i was driving as usual today, as I am turning, I drove over some metalic rod on my right side back wheel, I am not sure if it's coming out from my car. I went to see what it was, it's a black metallic rod with a little knob at one end (picture 2), and it is hollow. I took picture of it. Sorry for the bad phone picture quality.

Could you guys identify if it's a car part. Thanks

well on the bright side, be glad it didn't start tumbling and jut up into the floor of the car, happen to a friend of a friend of mine, actually just my dad's friend =]
