Seriously, people are nuts. Just last night, a pick-up full of furniture dropped a metal table onto the highway in front of me. Nice shower of sparks and everything. m3rk didn't turn into the proper lane but regardless, the other person didn't change lanes correctly. Plus, m3rk was driving in the right lane for quite a bit before it happened. Hard to see if they even signaled from the video, but he/she clearly didn't even check mirrors/blind spot.

Yes, I should have gone into the left lane first and then signalled to the right which I normally do (but quickly). This time as I was turning left, I looked at the traffic and saw that the right lane was more open and adjusted my turn accordingly. If I did so correctly and with the same speed, the same thing would have happened.

The dash cam is there to get out of sticky situations that's hard to deem who's at fault. It doesn't make you immune to car damage or turn into some sort of car god.
What I'm trying to say is that even if it wasn't your fault, do you want to waste time trying to find a rental car, fix the car, deal with insurance, that sort of pain in the ass stuff.

Sure, the Volkswagen Tiguan guy is definitely a dumbass...but just because you have a dash cam, does it make you feel at ease that you should go through even if there is a high chance that he might damage your car? You have proof that you did nothing wrong, but that's about it. Taking a few seconds to brake and avoid an accident is much better than driving right ahead with evasive action with a 50/50 chance.

This is my video trying out the 4Sight's "The Original Dash Cam 2" driving my MS3. A video test run during afternoon daylight hours in London, ON rush hour traffic using wide and zoom split screen imaging. Very happy with the dash cam. 32 gig card in it holds at least 3-4 hours of video with audio on.

Short story here:

Although the accident part of the video isn't really clear, basically the blue Ford Fusion backed into my friend's Merc and cracked the paint off the bumper while the Ford has no "visible" damage". Of course, they tried to settle it through cash, but there was no way we could determine how much this would cost and how much they need to compensate my friend. A meetup on the next day would technically work in theory, but my friend is from out of town, and the Ford is actually a rental and the driver is from BC (just happens to be going back on Tuesday).

So they began to exchange info, but the Ford driver refused to share insurance because they have no damages and they're from BC. In the end, we agreed to call the police to try and settle this case because we don't know how insurance would work out against a driver with a BC insurance. The police basically copied all the necessary info and just called it a night.

I have an extremely low tolerance for stupidity. I have had bunch of road rage incidents, but I have become a lot more calm then I used to be. I cruise at 10 over on the highways now, I used to be fast lane 24/7. Commuting has taught me to be calmer because there is a lot of stupid in this world. I got a dashcam because of this stuff. The first video you saw, 3 cars in 5 minutes, happens almost every day. Second? I got into the lane, this man never looked, didn't signal until his tires were in my lane. I'd say I attract this, and I'm not sure why. I try to drive respectably. I haven't had a ticket in years because I'm extremely conscious of it.

I may have been an aggressive driver when I was younger, but I was young and stupid. Now I know to be more cautious, and I still have stuff like this happen.

I really do wish I didn't drive as much, but with the life I'm in now, I have to commute to work. I just try to be calmer, and I just have to raise my stupidity tolerance.

It's not easy to see your perspective from the video since the camera can distort the distance between cars, but to be fair you were driving from behind the Corolla into his blind spot as he decided to change lanes. Regardless of when he signaled, if he was only looking briefly over his left shoulder it's easy enough to miss your sudden presence.

At any rate it looked like you were going much faster than the rest of traffic, at least from video clip, and came into other Lane at last second, giving other driver little chance to react.

actually reddie....it looks as though you are driving much faster than traffic, you switched lanes not leaving enough space between you and the corolla. You also did a sudden lane change which is extremely hard for the person in front of you to judge since they have to look at 3 different spots to complete a lane change. Front, to make sure no one is braking in front of them, mirror and blind spot. they cant have eyes at all 3 places at once......

Maybe he was trying to change over earlier but traffic wasnt giving him space... I have seen it happen.
While you did do the right thing in letting him. I wouldnt call him a moron for taking a bit extra time for the lane change.
Most truckers are nice people ( read most... not all... I have seen a few true moron truckers) if you are nice to them.


Also by law truckers should aim to keep in the right most lane as to not slow down traffic too much. theres also many areas around freeways where its packed and the signage sometimes doesnt show if your lane is going to end or a new lane is going to open up as it is not indicated in some cases until the last hundred meters.

For the record the driver of the red car is a friend of mine. I talked to him about it and he said he did not speed up and was on cruise control.
Slowing down in order to let the other one in works in some situations but in this situation it would slow down a line of cars entering the freeway. Young drivers actually teaches you to speed up when changing lanes so the correct course of action for the camry should have been speeding up and passing infront instead of insisting on going in that one small gap.
As well the driver of the camry seemed to have no situational awareness even after cutting my friend off she continued on like nothing happened.

It's not "okay" in the sense that he would get a ticket for that move. In this case it was "okay" because he judged the situation correctly and he was safe to go, legal or not. The general public is not capable of using judgement and so everyone freaks out when someone does something that is perfectly safe but technically against the law (rolling stop, speeding, etc)

I wouldn't advocate for what this guy did, but we've all been there at 3am at a red light for 5 minutes. There's nothing unsafe about going through it if the way is clear.

Came across this idiot on Sunday. Tailgating, changing lanes in an instant, but with no foresight and ends up stuck behind other people. So I got a fair bit ahead of him by getting through traffic safely.

Later he ends up behind me again (2:12). I know it looks like I intentionally cut him off as payback. In all honesty, I knew he would switch to the left lane and was expecting it. However, immediately before I started to switch to the left lane I saw he was still behind me in the center lane, I checked my left blind spot, and started to move over - at exactly the same time he started to move. Speed limits are there to help ensure that people turning left won't have someone coming toward them at a speed that doesn't allow them to clear the intersection. If you had been doing the limit, this would not have occurred.

Keep in mind it was a summer afternoon and there was almost no traffic with perfect road conditions.

Not that I condone this kind of speeding. I was just passing a bunch of trucks and didnt want to hold/slow traffic in the passing lane up. I usually stick to 130 max.... I dropped down to 130 after passing the trucks ( which were hogging the center lane)

To be fair from what i experienced... the opp is more stricter along the 401 compared to the 400.... especially west of Milton.

I know that stretch of road (bradford resident) and yea people do speed along that road, will you continue to do 100 when the new homes go in? As for the speed limits I feel like the 60 is only temproary until construction is complete. If it was a permamant change then why not just remove the 80 sign instead of covering it up? This is similar to the 400 north of canal road... yes the limit has been reduced ( because construction to 80) but most of the time they construction only happens at night and during the day everyone still maintains 120 through that stretch.

obviously going over the limit set by construction when workers are present is a bad idea I agree.
I understand why they would lower the limit and respect the safety of the workers. just see no need to slow down when there is no lane closures/work going on. heck they even set up temproary concrete barriers in the stretch of the 400 where they are doing construction near bradford.

Going the regular speed when workers are present IS a bad idea I agree. If theres workers on the road... or even a vehicle off to the shoulder I always slow down.


In the case of the 400 though in that stretch where they are doing construction, if theres no construction going on and theres no lane closures or narrow lanes then I dont see why traffic needs to slow down from their existing pace unless someone ahead is braking .

Im in no way saying you have to speed at all times but theres certain behaviours you cant change and its better to adapt to it rather than trying to enforce the law .

Same here, whenever I see a cruiser on the highway, I stick to the limit or even a teeny-weeny bit less, not that I go over the speed limit on the highways, but I do a little bit of spirited driving from time to time. I just don't want to risk it when a cruiser is near by.

I slammed on my brakes and pointed in the other direction. He squeezed by but mocked my wagging finger. Ever since then I always notice him racing around the place, but he's never said anything when we see each other in the building. This is the same guy with fake Volks on his current Skyline.

Afterwards today I went down to find him in the parking lot. He was vacuuming out his car. I said "Hey" and made sure he could see me. No comment. "Oh, you don't even want to talk to me?". Keeps vaccuming, no eye contact. "Ok, just wanted to find out why you're such a jackass around here, but if you're too good to talk to me, that's fine." Still no comment or eye contact. If anything they should make only the left two ish lanes speed limit free and only on nonpeak periods. During the morning/afternoon rush hour the 407 can be a bit too busy for any speed higher than 130.






Also I get more of a kick out of taking corners a bit faster rather than going fast in a straight line. On ramps are my favourite provided im not stuck behind anyone and the road conditions are perfect.

I have mine running off the cigarette lighter, im just mindful to make sure I plug/unplug it when I am getting in or out, I have left it on for a full 24hours before and no issues.

Another 407 speed demon today, my words as he passed me were "I will see you in a KM", guess who got to his exit faster, even though was going slow :)
