The families automagic 2005 GT hatch has a noticeable shaking while in drive and stopped at a light for about 5-10 seconds. this shaking/shuddering is now getting louder and more annoying, once the car is stopped at a light it starts immediately, i have no clue what it is, the car drives fine, it does not shake when it gets going and the shaking stops once the car begins rolling and you release the brake. if i pop it in neutral while stopped it stops the problem in the beginning but now i feel like i can faintly hear it even in neutral. the car was serviced by mazda when it started they could not find the problem, there were no codes. they heard a faint vibration apparently .... and suggested other work on the car that "might" fix it that and was really based on the cars mileage. I'm not sure what is going on but seem to be getting worse.

the engine mounts were replaced a few years back and it is a different noise then that problem.

Any similar problems??? solutions???

thanks

Sounds like torque converter shudder. I would do a quick ATF drain and fill, if that doesn't help I would just drive it until transmission pukes. I would also start saving money for a new tranny and TQ.

Sounds more like it might need a tuneup or service. Do you notice the idle lower than usual? Are you upto date on all maintenance like plugs, air filter,PVC etc? Could also be a vacuum leak causing the idle to be lower than normal when topped at a light.

i think its the cold weather if the heat is on and stuff because ive noticed that in the winter my car does the same thing as your car but for some reason for my car in the summer its fine, i could be wrong though and it could be something else.

had similar issue. Throttle Body was dirty. Got it cleaned, much better idling now. and 65,000km later :)
