So I bought some 55W HID's from DDM Tuning with the HID relay harness. I wired it up as in the picture below. However, when I turn on the lights, sometimes the passenger side light does not come on in auto mode, I have to flip the switch off, then on again. Did I wire something wrong? I gather it should have enough power since it's getting power from the battery. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I think the ballast is likely DOA.

Even though it turns on after flipping the switch?

yep. Fairly common symptom of a failed/failing ingnitor. If it came on immediately and consistently after flipping the switch on, I would say it could be wiring. But given you sometimes need to go off/on more than once, I think ballast.

Ok thanks ... I've initiated RMA process with DDM for a new ballast ... we'll see how it goes :)

So I took out the 55W to RMA with DDM, and I put a 35W ballast in there temporarily ... Interestingly, the difference in light output seems to be non-existent. The color temperature as far as I can see remains the same with both ballasts, and the throw of the light seems entirely the same as well. hmmmm ... maybe it's because of the overlap???

WARNING: do not buy DDM Tuning HID sets. First of all I had issues with 1 of the ballasts. Then after taking that one out, I started experiencing problems with the second ballast...finally today I smelled burning from the engine bay, turned out the 20 amp fuse from the relay melted.
So since Wednesday I have had nothing but issues with their products. The 35 watt ballast from import tuning is still going strong without any misfire issues.
This is my experience, YMMV. Going to install the Morimoto set tomorrow.

I had the exact same problem with ddm. My fuse/relay harness was useless. The relay heated up like crazy, it fused to the harness. Passenger side wouldn't come on in auto mode 50% of the time. Had to tinker with the switch.
Just replaced my old ddm ballasts with eBay specials, 7 bucks each, slim. No problems what so ever. The ballasts are MUCH quieter then ddm.
Now unless they have changed their ballasts, I would stay away

DDM use to be a good source for hids. then theyre products suddenly lost quality..... i buy local stuff only, so if anything breaks or fails. i can go back and settle a solution. keep us updated on the morimoto sets!!

Grounding location - So there's a second ground wire for the Morimoto set .. Does anyone know a good grounding location on the passenger side in the engine bay? Everything looks painted. thanks.

I sent this email to DDM Tuning ... I don't expect to get a response though:
This email serves only as a comment on the quality of your products. I had initially purchased your products on the review of other users from various forums. However, it seems those reviews pre-2011 are no longer indicative of the current line of products. At first, there was a problem with one ballast that was mis-firing, which I requested an RMA for.
A few days later, the other ballast began misfiring and not turning on every time. Finally, the worst happened on Monday March 11 when I smelled a burning odour coming from the engine bay. I stopped to check what the issue was, it turned out that the relay you provided had melted the 20 amp fuse!! Not even breaking the fuse, but rather melting the plastic!
I had only installed the set for a week and experienced more issues than I have with any other low priced HID set. Not only is the quality of your products sub-par, but also poses a potential life-threatening danger if the set melted the ballasts and could cause an engine bay fire. I have wasted my money on this product and have since disposed of it. Your RMA process is convoluted and non-transparent to the end user customer in that there holds a possiblity of the customer being charged if your "testing" determines the product to be non-defective.
In any case, I don't expect a refund since I disposed of your product already, but I will not and cannot whole heartedly recommend your products to any consumer until the issues are rectified. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
