So Im here to ask the mazda 3 guru's about the intermittend problem Im having with my mazda 3.
This is a 2004 , gt with 125 000 km , the car has been good and I havent done any maintenance in the past 2 years or so , aside from oil changes and tires and brake pads. The car has been running pretty rough the last month, it is pretty noisy on the road event though the tires are still pretty new ( a year) and the car shakes a little bit everytime I stopped at the red light. And it could has a couple of burns bulbs ( right brake light bulb , right reversed ligh bulb and right headlight bulb , coincidence?? )
So I decided last week that I was going to replaced all the burned bulbs , the air filter and the battery. After strugling to change the headlight bulbs with the stupid clip , I finished changing all the burned bulbs. The air filter was also a bit of a problem to close but I had it done . The next day I take the car for a spin and as soon as I leave my building the cars stalls at the stop sign ( after I fully stopped) , I keep driving and everything I stopped the car stalled or had a really hard time trying to stayed on. So I bring the car back into the building , I grabbed my second car and go to wallmart to get a new battery since the one in my car was never changed. I changed the battery and take the car for a spin . The car doesnt stalled this time but it had a really hard to time at everystop , it wants to stall but it doesnt do it.
I bring my car back in the building again and do a little research , so I find that cleaning the MAF sesor may helped. Next day I go to canadian tire and buy a MAF cleaner, removed the sensor , cleaned , put it back and go for a spin. Again the car drives a lot better , no stalling but still once in a while I get the hesitation at the red light , not as often but it is still there.
A couple of things I ve notice are that the engine light flashed a lot right after I changed the air filter when it stalled. Now I may still get a little flashed . Second I ve also noticed that the steering pump light may flash for a longer time. Both clear itself
Now Im pretty upset , maybe I should ve left the car the way it was with the old air filter and battery , maybe I shouldn have bother. Now the car drives worst than before and Im gonna have to spend money on it. I m a bit worry that this is an intermittent problem which are usually hard to diagnosed.
I have checked the hoses , electrical connections (which i cleaned) close by the area I was working at and I dont see anything. Kind of hard to see leaks
Any advice mazda 3 gurus??? is there something that I can check myself before bringing it to my mechanic , or maybe something I can tell him to check before we start throwing parts at this car that it doesnt need
thanks!!
