What up TM3?
I just found out today that Amber & White lights are legal for use as turn signals in NS.
(4) The lamps showing to the front shall be mounted on the same level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable and, when signalling, shall emit white or amber light, or any shade of light between white and amber.
SO... I've seen many threads about using LEDs, but you need those resistors and that sound like a pain in the a**. So would a white bulb work just as well? I know the size is 1157A / 2827
But when I sear on eBay, they all come up as LED.
Thoughts suggestions?

Not related to your question but I plan on getting chrome dipped bulbs that appear white until their on. Then I'd do the parking light delete mod so they arent on with low beams. Personally i dont like the white ones.

Gotta hit crappy tire when I go pick up the girlfriend haha

Adding resistors aren't a pain if they're wired in the back.
That way you don't get hyper flashing with the front.

Not hard if you got gloves on. It might actually be faster to remove the bumper and access the parking light.
Wondering if you cut the metal contacts off or used tape?

for a white look on turn signal why not use hyper white bulb instead of LED.yes LED is brighter but wouldnt hyper white bulb be easier to install.

I think either way it's gonna be a real pain sadly. In order to access the parking bulb, I have to wedge my hand between the windshield washer resivoir and the headlight housing on one side and on the other is just as difficult. I may have to wait till the spring time and just lower my bumper and see how it goes from there...

I drive by local police station everyday, no problems..
These links say nothing about white signal bulbs except that they are not permitted on the rear.. fronts only state no red, blue or green and must be at original flash speed.. nothing mentioned about white. As Rob mentioned a lot of older European cars come factory with them. Did either of you that had previously been pulled over have fast flashing LED's? or over 4 lights on pointed frontwards? Sounds like you just had bad luck with the wrong police officer

I feel bad for you guys, I gotta say the only part of Ontario I miss is the fact that you can hall all windows tinted. My '04 looked sick completely blacked out.
Buut since I'm cheap as hell ATM, I went and did the parking light delete mod. I must say.... Wow, what a difference...
(Sorry about the bad pics, my garage has terrible lighting and iPhones don't have the best camera.)

This. I had white signals on my old civic in the rear and up front. Cop was behind me turing left on keele and hwy 7 and gave me a ticket for white rear turning signals.
In any case lets get back on topic as the insured is in N.S and its legal there to have white signal bulbs (all round).
The parking light delete looks good Focker! Car looks more aggressive :)

Nah, just the front. We're allowed only amber and red in the rear. I have some red LEDs in the mail haha.
But thanks Michaelm, I want to get some eye brows now to really set it off. What would be better Sky-Blue or black?
BTW I found my girlfriends camera, I have some better quality pics now and I'll take one more tonight when I go to pick her up. I wanna see how these bad boys will look in the dark.
On a side, side note... This is also my 100th post on TM3... Woot! :bana

I hope these are good led bulbs. You'll most likely get rear ended if they don't see any emitting light through your dark tails, and if you do, you're in big trouble !

They're dual filament so they'll have the ability to be dim during headlight operation but bright while braking.
I really hope they make a difference compared to how they are now. If not I'll continue to use the bulb that came stock.
As per every time I mod... I will post pics once they come in. I'm going LED tails, and reverse. I had projector LED reverse but due to the angle that they entered the housing, I was only lighting up objects that were at a 45 degree angle to the rear of my car lol

LOL if someone rear ended me and blamed it on my tinted tails I would laugh at them. haha sorry but that would never work, the light shines through perfectly.

Like I said, you can see all the lights through the tint perfectly. If someone tried to pull that on me Id just peel the tint off and say I have no idea what they are talking about. Because that would be bullshit.

Have you ever tried peeling off your own tail light film? Or scraping nightshade off?
It's not a 3 minute job to do.
Tail light film is stretched and heated, which requires a bit of pulling and heat to get them back off.
Sorry I'm going a bit off topic but lets say someone smashes the tails and there's ripped up tint, or you can't even access your tails.
There are people out there that pull BS (its obvious they would as they wouldn't want to be at 100% fault) but you'd be the one pulling BS. It's as easy as taking a picture of you peeling it off, or having a dashcam in the person who rear-ended you.
Rob, you say you can see all the lights through the tint perfectly. That's fine with you, but there are others that won't agree with you. During the day time when the sun's out and there's a mass amount of sun in your eyes causing glare and infront of you is a black vehicle with black tails with barely any brake signalling and all you see is the third tail light. You can finish the story as it can go many ways. Also you won't see much if the sun is shining light at the tails.
If you're into the tints on tail lights, go for it. But don't put aftermarket LEDs because it's not going to be bright at all, I've yet to see aftermarket LEDs that produce the same brightness as halogens during daytime.
HTA Light requirement
(4) Any lamp required under subsection (1), (2) or (3) shall, when lighted, be clearly visible at a distance of at least 150 metres from the front or rear, as the case may be. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (4).
Attachment that affects lamps prohibited
(7) No person shall drive upon a highway a motor vehicle if either or both of the lamps that are required on the front of the vehicle by subsections (1), (2) and (3),
(a) are coated or covered with a coloured material; or
(b) have been modified by the attachment to the lamps or the motor vehicle of any device that reduces the effective area of the lenses or the intensity of the beam of the lamps. 2002, c. 18, Sched. P, s. 19 (1).

I get it but its still very visible light output, in bright sunlight its hard to see with or without tints. I also don't have LEDs.

If you did that not much light if any would shine through, unless you did it with nightshade. But why go though all that when you just put it on the outside.
