View Full Version : Temperature knob won't turn all the way (2010 M3)

OK, so this was all my fault I know...

So I took the knobs off of the climate control (thought I needed to do it to take off the trim), and then I promptly put them back.

Now... the hot/cold knob won't turn all the way to the left anymore. It goes full turn to the right, but on the left it stops at about 9 o' clock. My temperatures are all messed up now - all the way to the right is still hot, but it starts being 'cold' at the 3 o'clock.

All the other knobs work fine... and I looks at the actual mechanism that moves with the knob and it seems to be moving the whole range of motion - even when I do it manually by hand.

sooooo... I've looked around and haven't seen anyone with this problem (although I know how to take out the ac control unit now if I wanted to, there's enough guides out there).

Thoughts?

Turn the knob all the way to heat until it stops at whatever position it stops now, remove the knob and put it back on 180 degrees from that position.

Hey man, thanks for the response!

OK so I did that - the knob only goes in 'one way' and won't go in fully to the 180 degree. It semi goes in at the "90' degrees, and still won't turn. I tried turning it by hand and even by pliers and it won't go further left.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm uploading a youtube video to show you - my internet is slow and another 30 minutes tho. Thanks again guys, any help is VERY appreciated :) (
