Hi there,

I have a couple of questions. Recently I installed laminx yellow fog overlays and a buddy was telling me if I install 3000k hids I will get a deep yellow colour. Right now the overlays with stock bulbs don't look so great...

How difficult is it to install hids in the fog lights for the 2012 skyactiv sedan? Installing HIDs in my lows was relatively easy except I had a hard time mounting as my car is rust proofed so I couldnt really use double sided tape and I couldnt find good spots to tie wrap...

So, is there a spot to mount the ballasts down there? Will the ballasts be affected by water etc?

3000k HID with overlays are fine. If you're thinking about asking yellow overlay with 6000-8000k hids, find a piece of laminx and place it on your lows to see the colour. It's going to be a brighter yellow. 3000k HID will be a true yellow. Why don't you use Nokya for your fogs?

You can mount HID Ballasts ziptied to the harness or even near the horn.

For your lows you can have them laid anywhere. I have one ziptied around the windshield washer fluid cap and the other ziptied near the coolant hose.

Hey man, I got my overlays coming the mail as we speak.

I have HID's in both lows and fogs. Easily installed but you will have to drop the bumper down to attach the ballasts for the fogs. Its super simple to do and can be done within an hour.

3000K fogs looks great but use the overlays with them. Its sometimes difficult to get 2 3000k bulbs that are exactly the same shade, and intensity.

Hence the reason why I have an overlay coming in.

As for mounting... I really wish i would have taken pictures of my install. I mounted them on the chasis itself. Pretty much facing the fron the car. But i did find this pic... (and added arrows)

I didn't remove the bumper completely, just took out the screws on the top and sides (in wheel well) and rested the bumper on the remaining screws that are holding in place.

But year 6 zip ties for each ballast... and you'll be set man.

I have Nokya 55w and I know I cant use them but even the 35w I heard they run very hot and people have said that halogens have melted their laminx over time...I know HIDs run cooler and much brighter...the halogens and nokyas (although they look good) never really throw any visible light

Nah man, it's soooo easy. I had no idea what I was doing but I googled it and used TM3. Came out looking like a pro lol

Any questions don't be afraid to ask Me or anyone else with a 2010+ model.

If you ever want to work on your car for a quick fix, you need to learn how to take your bumper off.

practice makes it faster. You can really get it done in 5 minutes or less! (Without a tow plate)

You don't have to take the bumper off to install HID fogs... I just took out the screws around wheel well, and under the corners of the bumper and pulled the plastic back enough to get my arms in there. Mounted the ballasts right to existing bolts.
