Currently own a Mazda3 2005 Sedan. Engine: 2.0L. Automatic transmission.
Lately, I have been experiencing problems with the RPM meter. While I'm driving around 60KM/hour, the RPM stick begins to jump on it's own between 1K & 2K back and forth, & the car begins to jerk in proportion to the RPM (at this point, the foot is OFF the gas pedal).
I just replaced new sparkplugs yesterday (Mar 26, 2013)(NGK Iridium).
Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?? Please help!

your transmission might be slipping, wrong spark plugs..... take it in to amechanic

I did, he said he cleaned out the throttle body, reset the codes in the car and replaced brand new sparkplugs (the ones specific for Mazda).
Could it be something else?

You said he "reset the codes"
So you had a check engine light on your dash?

yah, could it be an engine problem? He hooked up his machine to the car and checked the car.. he said there was nothing that his machine could detect. I'm not sure what he meant when he said there was 'codes' on the car, and he said he cleared them all.

Try disconnecting the battery I remember when I cleaned my throttle body it was doing the same thing disconnect the battery and let it sit for 20-30 mins

could be lots, with the new spark plugs the gapping could be wrong, they could of cleaned off some debree on your injectors causing cylinder to have better combustion.
try running fuel injector cleaner threw your injectors. if not, it seems like your transmission is slipping, either way take it to another mechanic to get a 2nd opinion.

I did that yesterday, we disconnected the battery & let it sit for 2 minutes, then reconnected it again and started the car giving it another 5 minutes to idle. It seems that was the solution! I haven't been experiencing any problems with it now! Thanks!!
