See above photo. Orange Tesla plates GVAA 006. Parks in handicap parking spot without permit. It is an older person who maybe having some difficulties getting around? Nope.
Rather it was a oh I guess early or mid 30s chinese woman with a tiny toy dog in the passenger seat who told me and my pregnant wife who where just stopping in that spot, (it's right by the elevators for our condo) to drop off groceries with my engine still running, that it's HER spot. I had taken this photo earlier in the day when we first left to shop and by food. 4 hours later when we arrived back was when we had this shot conversation with said lady.
Yes it's a Tesla roadster very rare in Toronto but it's not the ark of convenant. So no it's not your spot you stuck up b*tch who clearly don't work for you money. It is times like this when I wish I had a couple long screws or nails in my pocket :devil...

thats strange....i might know that guy... but he should have green plates. but yea...if it is the person i know, he's a bit of an over confident ass that thinks hes better than everyone else. which is what you see here...LOL
you say lady, but theres actually a LOT of teslas in toronto. most of them are orange or white

The plates are green.
I don't know how your convo went but for her to be parked there on a regular in a condo I would assume she needs to prove she has the permit. Also assuming the spots are regulated/numbered.
It is possible she has something like lupus. Which gives you automatic wheel chair access. Some good days some bad. ( I know a few people who have it. They only use handicap spots on bad days. )
My exes mom one day could go for a jog. The next day could barely walk.

She was carrying her dog. I don't think she was having trouble walking. Also no permit. If you have lupus you would have gotten permit from your doctor. I had a temp one when I got my knee surgery, got it the same say I saw my doctor. Don't think she has an excuse.

It's really simple to get a permit. You fill out a form and your doctor stamps and sign it. You take it to where you get your plates/license they issue you a temporary one right away. They can issue permit for any condition that makes it hard to walk according to the info I saw. I mean my ACL surgery didn't leave me unable to move, I was able to move fast enough to pass older folks on my clutches. So again I really doubt she has a "leg" to stand on LOL.

Was just playing on the side of caution.
I was just getting to the point that MAYBE she does have permit, maybe its just not visible. If this was at a mall there would be no question. It's the condo thing that gets me.
And I don't think a 4lb dog counts as carrying something.

You think it's worth it to complain with a printed picture and show it to building security or management? I know it's going out of your way and may be far fetched but if this happens on the daily, my patience would be greatly tested lol

Generally I live by the rule "never touch another man's/woman's car"..... but sometimes under certain circumstance's this rule can be & needs to be broken. This may be one of those times. Key the f*@king car.

Why not ask management if she is really allowed to park there. Then you'll know.

I just noticed that its a resident only parking spot.
What if there are no other spots available at the moment and management told her to park there temporarily?
Not saying its right, or thats the case.... but possible. If it was a visitors spot, that might be different. But people dont care where they park in Toronto, or how they park.
Plus, even if she did have a permit... what says that its even hers? Or even legit? There is a guy downtown, who parks his blue Ferrari California on a very highly patroled one way street, right across from 52 div. Early 40s guy, who is a drug rep and buds with some MD's. I highly doubt that his disabled permit is legit....

This looks to be a private condo building underground parking lot. Maybe no one has considered the condo management company is in charge of assigning parking spaces to tenants and if they currently have no tenants requiring a handicapped spot they may have very well assigned this person that spot. If another tenant comes in that requires the handicapped spot then the Tesla owner will be assigned a new spot.
Or, this person is a bit of a dick.

As others have said, I'd be interested to know what your building's security/management have to say about that car's use of the parking spot.

Wow some random reasoning in this thread :loco

I don't understand why this isn't the first thing you would do?

Seriously... key the car? I agree that if she parked there without a permit then she is in the wrong, I'm all for corporal punishment.... but keying someones car? Damn thats harsh, what did the car ever do to you????

I don't think 2 wrong makes a right either so I don't bother with stuff like that. I just think about comeuppance.
Personally I wish she was driving a Fisker Karma and it caught fire (without anyone inside). That would be karma LOL.

No one was serious.
What should be done is a street race along York Tech and then maybe some logging after ;)

Well then she really is an inconsiderate b****. I can't believe she had the gall to say that it was her parking spot. Just report her everytime and hope she gets towed or a ticket.

Keying a car is something I don't even joke about because someone will read those posts and think "Must be ok, some TM3ers would do it".

I'm not really sure why you would be in that spot to begin with.
You're both in the wrong. Car running or not, you shouldn't be using that spot and if you don't know the entire situation, just let it go.
Way too many factors to be concerned about.
I'd be pissed if I needed that spot and there was someone sitting and idling in it.
Lastly, think about it like this, every time someone parks in a handicapped spot, there is one more spot for you to park in.

I've actually seen someone get ticketed outside a restaurant because they were illegally parked (with the car running) in the handicap spot as the dad went to get their baby from the doorsteps of the restaurant. It was also raining pretty hard.
I think you can still get a ticket if you park in a handicap spot (with a permit) if you are observed by the parking officer as being completely mobile with no difficulties in walking. If it really bothers you.. why don't you videotape it and make a complaint. If I saw someone key someone elses car regardless of provocation I would notify the authorities.

The police are not able to judge ones physical condition or whether or not they require a permit or not.
I have one that I have used maybe a dozen times or so over the last 5 years. Having had multiple knee surgeries, the doctor thought it best to have, in case I ever needed it.
I've only used I in the winter when walking a long distance over ice could put me back in the hospital.
There are also people who can walk short distances problem free but after a few hundred meters they experience pain. For those people it's a good idea to park as close to the entrance as possible to limit their discomfort.
Seeing the car parked outside of a physiotherapists office leads me to believe that they have some mobility issues. Maybe they just had surgery or have an ongoing issue.
Many people abuse these passes but they are given out by doctors. They can also be given to people without a drivers license so that the people who take care of them or drive them around can park close for them.
There is no drivers license or license plate numbers on the permit, just a name and address.
There are hefty fines for abusing the permit, like when using someone else's permit and they are not with you as we'll as large fines for not displaying it properly, when in use.
The permit goes with the person, not the vehicle.
I have heard that you don't have to pay for parking on the street with one of these permits.
I've never looked into it though.
Permits come in temporary and permanent forms.
Temporary are for 3 months I believe.
Permanent permits are for 1, 3 or 5 years. When the permit expires, you have to bring a new form to your doctor and pay to have it filled out. A temporary is issued and then a permanent laminated version is mailed for those that are over 3 months.
I have heard of people getting tickets while sitting in their car with the car running but stopped in a marked handicapped spot.
The fine in Toronto is around $400.
