Hey All,

So my engine light went on a while ago and didn't go off so I took it to my mechanic and he said that the code indicated it was running too lean.

After inspecting underneath the car, he determined that both catalytic converters weren't functioning properly (when he check the temperature difference before and after each cat.

has anyone experienced this before? What are my options (it's pricey to replace two cats)?

The mazda website indicates that catalytic converters may be covered under warranty as part of the emission system.

My car also has 148,000 kms on it....

All advice is appreciated

Thanks,

I would assume your car is past warranty.

Do you have any modifications? What was the code that was read?( P - - - -)

Your car is a 2006 with almost 150'000 kms

Your warranty expired a long time ago unless you have extended coverage

also take it to a mazda dealership and ask them if your covered. probably not though...so expect to pay big bucks for the catalytic converters.

also another note, have they checked the O2 sensors?
