The service department has gone downhill BIG time since Tiffany left. The new service manager and new male service advisor just seem very unfriendly and they seem to be trying to upsell me on service every time my car is in.

I made an appointment for an oil change and notified them in advance that I wanted a courtesy drop off while my car was in. I arrived on time and went to sit in the waiting area for the courtesy drop off. After about 10 minutes I started walking around to let the servoce advisor know I was getting impatient for my ride. He even acknowledged that the driver would be back soon. So what happens ? I never got a ride at all ! I ended up waiting around until my car was finished sitting in the waiting area. NOT impressed ! And not sure if I'll be going back there again now.

That's upsetting.
I got nervous once Tiffany left, but had a good experience with Larissa and the tech working on my car.
But there's a new guy there. Real greezball with curly hair. Couldn't look any more sleazy.
If I was new to the dealership, I'd walk right out.

This place is brutal. I referred a friend to get the bonus and the greasy sales guy sold her his demo which he'd been smoking in. Smell came through a couple of days later. It took me several months of hounding to get the referral bonus (which probably wasn't even worth it if I figure my time). Then they lost the plates off my trade-in that they were supposed to return to the MTO that had 7 months credit left. I had to report them lost to the police and bring a slip to the MTO. This also took several phone calls which resulted in them offering a free oil change. I live in Barrie and after all of this there's no way I'm going back.

You should have said something then maybe you would have gotten better service. You cant sit and complain when you didnt even say anything. The service department has gotten way better recently.
And everyone upsells, its part of the business and its how everyone makes money to support theyre families or themselves. Would you get angry at your dentist if he/she found a cavity?

Moffat's hasn't tried to upsell me on sh*t in the 8 years I've been going there. Maple Mazda still sucks...I know this because I recently had to deal with them for my annual rust inspection and they were less than helpful (turns out I can't get rid of them). I asked Moffat's to contact them to sort it out and even the service advisor there commented on brual they were. Also, comparing them to a dentist pretty much proves madaagain's case since dentists are known for being one of the biggest scammers in any industry for selling patients things they don't actually need. I think upselling and replacing something that actually needs to be replaced are two different things. If a dentist finds a cavity then they're not upselling you a filling. If they found a cavity and told you that you need platinum fillings and a tooth whitening kit then that would be an upsell.

Maybe its because you constantly decline anything they try to sell. And if they aren't reminding you off things on your car that have reached replacement intervals they arent doing they're jobs properly. Which also means your also probably not maintaining your vehicle like you should.

My point is you people are talking shit about people for DOING THEYRE JOBS. And there are MANY HONEST people in the automotive trade who arent in it for the money or who actually care about customers retention. And just because you tightwads have to spend money doesn't mean they're trying to rape you or anything, if you could do it yourselves you wouldn't be there.

People will be people, and then come online complaining about minor shit from a dealership that gives a discount to members of this forum..lol

What do you get a kick back for promoting a shitty dealership. Why do you think dealerships advertise 25.00 for and oil change special because when you go for that special promotion oil change and they try to sell you shit you don't need. It sounds like your the kind guy that buys what ever the dealerships says you probably pay 5 times the cost for your shit that you do not even need. Bottom line the reviews suck and everyone cant be wrong

Yeah, ok. Well if people's jobs are to promise things like referral bonus' and then shaft you on it, lose your stuff with no explanation and give you improper info then they're doing an awesome job. So I take it back, Maple Mazda is the BEST.

Ps. Do you think Canadian Tire is the next best place to get your car serviced? Give me a break.

LOL I do all my own work I don't pay for shit, I'm sure you've been taken advantage of a few times thats why your so butthurt. I'm sick and tired of seeing morons who KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT CARS AND THE INDUSTRY, Talk shit about things they have no idea what the **** they're talking about. Show me a dealer that advertises 25 dollar oil changes LOL. You pay for an oil change, and a FULL VEHICLE INSPECTION. Its never cheaper than 30 dollars. If you pay for a tire rotation you get a free brake inspection too.

Lol mikeyj I've never seen a dealer honour the refferal bonus. And maybe you should have given clear instructions then your plates wouldn't have gotten returned..thats not lost thats again doing what they're supposed to. Canadian Tire? LOL just as bad as Midas thats where all the butchers work. But just cause of a few bad eggs you can't condemn the whole bunch. Don't even ****in go there. I'm sure none of you even know how to change your own oil let alone get into anything more difficult. Give me a ****in break, go read some books and get some experience and knowledge in the field then your stupid arguments may be valid. Again who are you guys to judge and talk shit about people when you know NOTHING about the industry. Please, enlighten me.

He does make some valid points...

People are always going to hear the negatives or complaints about a shop because that gets them angry and they want to vent their anger via the internet.

When was the last time you had someone come on the internet to give a positive review about a shop/dealership? (Streetperformance does not count lol)

I did get the referral bonus, it was just a huge hassle that turned into the principal of the matter (don't offer it if you're not planning to honour it). In terms of the plates, THEY said they would return them to the MTO and I would see the credit at next renewal. What specific instructions would I have to give above that? Get in car, drive to MTO, return plates. It's not rocket science. I've had bad experiences at Maple with the sales guy, several sales managers (because apparently retention is an issue there) and the service department. That doesn't leave many departments to compliment although the receptionist seemed pleasant. All of the mods and most of the maintenance done to my cars over that last 20 years have been done in my own garage but I'm glad you're so enlightened about the industry...certainly something for me to strive for. Happy trolling.

Lmao thanks, thanks for proving my points. I'm the idiot who goes to dealers and gets taken advantage of lol!;)

Jackal I meant Mazda dealership. Mazda can't do any less than 30 dollars or they wont make much of a profit. Oil/filter/disposal are what makes up the price mostly.

mikeyj I've worked for a few dealers and everytime someone is supposed to get a refferal bonus they never end up getting it cause the dealers some how find a way to weasel out of it so your lucky you got it at all.

And if you do everything yourself, why are you going to dealerships then? I mean if you've had nothing but bad experiences why do you go back?
