So I've decided I'm upgrading my car stereo in my 2007 Mazda 3 Hb and ordered and installed the Eonon D5151. Now this unit is descent and has a lot of features for the price. Sound quality was a subtle improvement over the OEM system. My next step was to upgrade the OEM speakers. My choice was narrowed down to either Alpine or JL Audio. Since I had JL Audio's in my Honda CR-V I already new that they made an excellent product and decided to stick with them. So I ordered some JL Audio speakers from Crutchfield Canada. I got C2-570x's for the front and TR-570CXi's for the rear. Now there is one thing I don't understand is that these speakers cost $140 and $100 respectively from Crutchfield Canada and $180 and $140 respectively from Crutchfield USA. Being Canadian I'm not complaining but I almost ordered them from the US website and then realized that Crutchfield has a Canadian Distributor so I checked the Canadian website and they were considerably cheaper. Plus they include the wiring harness for free and they ship from Mississauga which means I received them in two days. So I installed them this morning. The whole installation took about an hour. Let me tell you the included wiring harness made installation a breeze. The hardest part was taking the door panels off which really wasn't hard but I suggest buying some extra door panel reatainer clips before you begin because I broke two.
Now for the sound quality. Let me just say WOW! what an inprovement. The system just came alive. The highs are so much more crispier and the bass has a clean punch. JL Audio just puts out and awsome product. I immediately had to hop in and cruze Clifton Hill.
My next step, hopefully next weekend, will be installing a 4 channel 300w Alpine amp I have sitting in the basement. That amp should really drive those speakers nicely. I also have two Alpine subs and a Rockford Fosgate amp just waiting for some kind of stealth box.
