View Full Version : Headers for the 2.5

Not seeing too many around. Cobb doesn't make one for the 2.5, there is none in the Corksport site either. OBX has one listed on the website, but i'm not a huge fan of OBX since they basically went to ebay grade T304 stainless.

Are there any recommendations on where to look for one? I took a quick peek @ google, but it didn't come up with much at all.

Thanks in advance.

Header*

Yes. Looking for a downpipe & manifold assembly kit. Was looking into a couple different places, but not seeing a whole lot of options.

Why not go with the speed set up?

What are you trying to do? Turbo your car?

Main thing would be the manifold, turbo and downpipe. All should match and manifold should fit the 2.5 ports.

There is no reason for it not to fit. Best thing is to ask someone with a speed who took off there exhaust with under 10,000k on it to sell it to you. This is my plan as well.

Unless you're planning on boosting the car, why would you want a speed3 manifold?

lol so much terminology fail. phil and wes08m3 are correct in saying that you should not be putting on the speed3 exhaust manifold with the downpipe, unless you are boosting your cars. <--- most likely not. only been a handful done which work and are reliable.

ur looking for the header' (msds or vibrant) and the flexpipe which joins the lower section of the header to the rest of the exhaust. this in turn will connect to either the stock cat, aftermarket cs high flow cat, or straight pipe, then the midpipe, then the axle portion of the exhaust.

Are you sure that the exhaust ports on the speed exhaust manifold will line up perfectly with the 2.5 engine? What about the bolts? If you're sure, then good for you, you have one piece of the puzzle figured out. :thumbsup

I'd give them the benefit of a doubt... After all, there's that other thread with the speed 3 sedan. Maybe they are trying to turbo hence the downpipe and exhaust manifold questions. :)

you can tell by their question and responses, that they have very little clue as to what they are talking about. that other thread about the speed 3 sedan is legit if that guy is already half way done. pics would be nice. id like to give them the benefit, but there seems to be a turbo thread or swap thread every other week :D

That's how epic threads start remember. :chuckle

But hey, it would be really interesting to do a complete speed 3 engine on sedan conversion, or any properly boosted sedan. :)

If you guys can demonstrate to me how you will get the turbo manifold to connect to the downpipe without the turbo, then I won't lock this thread.

It's already earned a spot in the Hall of Shame thread, I just need to get the time. Remind me someone please.

Since all you guys are looking for something to pick on people about, how about shoving it first?

I'm looking for a header setup. No turbo. Boosting this car is not an option right now.

Not sure where half you folks got the idea of boosting the car since there is no mention of a turbo.

Anyways.... back to the original topic. What are recommendations for a header kit?

Hey sir,
We're just messing, but DP is for turbo set up.
Vibrant, or MSDS are the most popular brands for header set up.

Honestly, it was just a matter of using the wrong term. At least you learned something new right?

Might want to have the thread title changed as well before this becomes Hall of Shame material. :)
