Just wondering if anyone knows of rattling issues on start up. I'm getting one periodicly, no certain conditions, just happens now and then. Sounds like excessive engine movement....planning on going to Mazda regarding it, just wanna know if there is issues with this.

If you have a skyactiv model, there has been a lot of discussion regarding this issue. Revs climb to 1500 on cold starts which may feel like a rough idle and then gradually decrease within 30-45 seconds. Not an issue, normal due to high compression nature of the engine. If you don't have a skyactiv model, then I'm not sure if that is normal or not.

It is a Skyactive model. The reving I'm aware of, that's not my concern. This is a flat out clunk actually, that's developed recently. If it was there and normal....I wouldn't have bought the car....trust me on that lol

any way you can record it? or record the few start ups to get an idea of what it sounds like if it happens.
not just for us but if you take that in when you go to mazda it might help the tech look for something similar or a similar noise if it happens when it is at the dealer, other wise its about as hard to find a noise that can not be duplicated as a needle in a hay stack, ( less of course it could be something obvious)
but the higer revs and diesel sounding engine for the first bit at warm up is normal, a "clunk" i wouldnt think is normal buti dont own a sky model so im not sure of its day to day sounds.

I'll try and record it, but it'll likely be hard to hear. Strange.
