So a friend of mine gave me a 12" Pioneer ts-sw3001s2 shallow sub in a sealed box and a audiobahn a2300e amp.I am not sure how many wats the amp is but he said that in his car it ran great.
My question is..would this be ok to install in my little 2007 mazda 3 hatch. I already bought a wiring kit and a capacitor and a LOC since im hooking it up on my stock head unit. Also where should i connect my LOC and which wires should I tap in to to connect this. I did a search on here and have been reading lots and found lots of helpful post but I am still somewhat confused about it.If anyone has any pics of how they installed it on their cars it would help a lot as I am attempting to install this tomorrow.
Hopefully the car wont rattle to much with the 12" sub but then again I wont be cranking it to high either maybe just a little.
And any other tips or advice is also welcome.
Thank You in advance!

the sub will be fine for your car, the capacitor was probably a waste of money though. as for the LOC it should be spliced in to your rear speaker wires, it takes the signals and converts them to RCA outputs for your amp to use

Thanks for your quick reply also where should I mount the LOC.Should I run wire from the rear speaker to the back of the head unit and then connect them to the LOC and leave the LOC behind the head unit?
Thanks again

I would personally tap into the wires for the rear speakers near the harness (centre console/head unit)and keep everything up there and then just run the RCA to the back along with your power and remote cable. Somewhere around the forum is the diagram/color codes for the speaker cables.

I tapped into the rear speaker wires by the door pillars (instead of trying to squeeze in behind the deck)
Ran the the wires to the trunk and connected it to the LOC then to amp.
LOC and wires hide nicely under the rear seats or under the cargo tray in the hatch.

should I forget about installing the capacitor and just run power directly to amp. Am I gonna have my lights dim cause of the amp?
Thank You guys this will be a learning process so all the feedback is appreciated.
Cheers!

The cap will be useless for that setup
Dimming is caused by a bad ground

Best way is to go through the door speakers and hide the wire. Less wire going all around your car. You have to hide them anyway. When I did mine I took the door panels off and hid it under that plastic door step and it went into the trunk. Ohh and make sure that when you set it up with the LOC you don't mix the wires up. I learned that the hard way. Good luck!

So a little update....took me like 5 or 6 hours and a lot of tweaking and got it done. I managed to hide the wire nicely and practically took the car apart to do it. Monday Im getting a 600 w Kenwood amp and I will be replacing the Authobahn a2300e with it to see if its better. I get a decent base inside the car but damn when I step out to hear it i hear lots of panel rattling it sounds terrible.Wonder if the 12" was a overkill for the hatchback.Anyone else with a 2007 hatchback that can share some tips would be appreciated. Also this may be temporary setup as I will probably take it to Andre's audio to have them do it professionally and I will also get a single din Kenwood deck with rca outputs as well so probably have find a kit I guess.

I wanted to ask where i can get those white clips that hold the door panel to the door frame? I broke couple of them when I was taking the doors apart to get the wires in.

If you didn't break 2 in a row don't worry about it.
I broke a few when I did mine and haven't bothered replacing them. I don't have any rattle or other ill effects.

LOL yeah I broke one on each side and freaked out when I did thinking that I will start hearing rattling.

If that's the case don't worry about them until you need to remove the door panel again. Then buy the clips before hand.
If you take your door panel off again now you'll be like city construction workers.
Rip up the road, re do street car tracks, re pave. Then decide to fix the water main.( I'm still bitter about that Bathurst construction )

So true LOL. I still have some tweaking to do as I am getting a Kenwood single din head unit and another amp and I know for a fact couple more of those clips are in a rough shape and will break sooner or later.
