I know there are a few roadies out there. Thinking of buying a road bicycle ... I currently have a performance hybrid and I've been doing longer and longer trips (70-100km). I bike twice a week.

Was tossing up the idea of purchasing a Cervelo R3. It's crazy how expensive wheels can get?!

Recommendations? The bike is for a recreational enthusiast. Not planning on enter time trials, etc.

I also was looking into getting a road bike, I put hybrid tires on my mountain bike but it is too small and kills my knees. Been looking at a Trek Madone 1.1.
The Cervelo R3 looks nice from just searching it.. a little out of my price range

I'm a roadie and race cyclocross. Cervelo is fine but there are better options out there for the money. Have you considered aluminum? It would be much less expensive and the newest crop of aluminum frames are nearly as light as carbon fibre. The Cannondale CAAD10 is highly regarded, and the new Giant TCR SL and Specialized Allez are great as well.

Thanks for the suggestion, I was looking at the TCR the other day.

I agree with rwatt. As much as Cervelos are nice, there are a lot of better options out there for the same price. Take a look at the Scott line of bike as well as the Felts.
