Hi guys recently on my way to home my windshield wiper suddenly went on a dead stop, leaving me with 10% visibility while driving. This has happened on me for quite a few times during rainy time and it makes me really concern, sometimes its ok but for a few days then would come back again. I tried to switch between auto, low, high, mist but nothing really happens I need help if someone can know what the problem is.

Take it in for service. It is likely something like a lose contact somewhere and if it's inside your dash it's going to be a job to get at the problem. Otherwise try and check your wiper motor connections.

what do you mean by a dead stop? are the motors running? it might be the nut that hold the wiper to the motor thats loose. reason why it might work sometimes is because when it stops, it allows grit and etc to build up friction to suddenly work again

I have no idea but it would suddenly work again for a few times and then stop again, it becomes more and more unreliable as the days passed by.
@gotak: yes i am planning to go to service but I need some input from members first, I dont want to go to mechanic having no idea what's going on with my wiper.

take it to a private mechanic with a good rep. dealership will probably say its not covered and charge you just to look at it.
when they stop, do you hear the motor running? try replicating it in your driveway and listen

I had a problem when I first got my car. The wipers would work occasionally during the winter. When I pulled the stalk towards me windshield washer fluid would spray out and the wipers would wipe once. If I tried to turn on the wipers it wouldn't work.
It turned out to be the PJB (something junction box). It was fixed under warranty.
You can do a search for my thread. I found it but since I'm not on my computer I can't just copy and paste the link.

Get rainX, at least if your wipers die and you're moving at a decent speed it will keep the rain off your window...

haha I never thought about that one... maybe I should have one and use it for couple of weeks while I save money for repairs!!!
I was wondering if this has something to do with the weak wiper motor and am I eligible for the mazda 08-09 windshield wiper motor recall?

Update!!!
I was thinking what could be the problems with my wiper system and yesterday I got time for some tinkering. My first thought could be the sensor, bad fuse, sticky joints on wiper arm itself and finally could be the motor.
so I opened the fuse box beside battery and to my dismay I cannot find the fuse for wiper!!! :bang

This force me to open the plastic and metal covering and I know that hidden below that thing is the wiper motor!!!

took me some time to figure out which one comes out first and taking out the plastic cover is a little tricky because they got some screws inside.

I finally manage to take out the wipers, metal and plastic cover and then proceed to take out the wiper motor.

I check for the joints on arms and it was good and working then check the motor...
The wiper motor has a generic 4 socket power connector and using outside power source I connect it and viola!!! motor is running for a few seconds and stop!!! I tapped the motor very lightly and it runs again... then stopped!!! that's it guys I can confirm this motor is the problem.
So I went to Partsource near my place and asked for a refurbished wiper motor for mz3 08, the guy told me that they only have one is stock!!! I was really lucky and ill be able to get the motor in the next few days.
I was thinking if I may still be eligeble for a wiper motor recall since I found out that its the main problem and lol it says its manufactured in korea.

I only have the car for one year and this already happened to me!!!

why did you even bother wasting your time and paying money to replace the motor.... most recalls DO NOT have time limits on when you take it in to have it done... you should've just called mazda instead and asked them if you were still eligible (and they most likely would've told you yes)

I just did and i told them about the problem and they are very helpfull and scheduled me a date for repair right away. Partsource are charging me around $150 for the motor and im very glad to hear the mazda dealership will do it for free, my car got 3 outstanding recall already based on their records!

had you first searched and checked for common problems/service bulletins/recalls, you never would've wasted your time taking apart the car and chasing down expensive parts like I said
next time do that before diving in!
