I currently have a 2010 Mazda3 GX and was looking to trade it in for a CX-5. My husband and I went to Mazda of Brampton and they told me they would take over the rest of my payments on my car, which I was fine with and I could get the CX-5. We went to sign the contract and noticed a $1600 charge for anti-theft. I asked the business manager about it and really didn't get a straight answer about it but thought ok I'm sure it's justified. Now that I'm thinking more about it I feel like I'm being ripped off.
I haven't picked up the CX-5 yet, they said it will be here next week.
Did I get completely screwed?? Should I cancel the contract and go to another dealer?
Any advice is awesome!!

$1600 for anti theft ? Seems excessive.
Call Jeff at MoT see what he can offer.

This.
I bought at Mazda of Brampton before I discovered this forum and paid thousands more than I had to. Talk to Jeff-the-Biz and compare his offer vs. Mazda of Brampton. I think that whole auto mall is grotesquely corrupt.

You got screwed, no doubt, but if you cancel the deal you may loose the deposit. Speak to the GM and see whether you can get out of it with the deposit. BTW, I bought my 3 at Mazda of Brampton. It was a painful process.

there needs to be a permanent announcement on the boards which states: "If looking for new Mazda call Jeff"
doubt you will be able to back out without losing deposit.
good luck!

I agree with this, but at the same time, people need to be more cognisant when it comes to buying cars and homes - the largest purchases we make. The sad reality is that many will spend more time researching a new smartphone or laptop than a car! :facepalm

you still have to sign for the car when you pick it up , therefor you can still argue with them otherwise you wont sign .... happened to my dad and they dropped it
