I bought a house in January and have just finished the back-yard patio and feel the time has come for a BBQ.
Can anyone suggest anything to be sure of when searching for a grill??
Things I've taken note of so far...
- considering Infrared
- at least 3 burners
- porcelain coated grill
- need wheels for mobility
- It will be propane gas fed
Are there any brands to avoid?
All suggestions greatly appreciated!
I should also point out that my girl and I do entertain, but there's usually only 2 of us, so having a MASSIVE grill makes no sense.

Wife and I were in the same boat. Ended up with a Weber Genesis E320 from Home Depot.
- has 3 burners
- porcelain grills
- wheels - it's stored in the garage
- propane - easy retrofit to gas down the line

just don't cheap out on brand.
Broil King
Napolean
Weber
stick with the big brands, their build quality is amazing. ONLY BUY IF MADE IN USA OR CANADA.
My dad had a huge presidents choice BBQ last year, 6 burners and all, great, but the heat was so uneven you couldnt cook shit!
Bought a Broil King this year, and what a difference!

just a note, the napoleons at cdn tire are made in china.
To me they all kinda look the same... What are the differences between the cheapo BBQs and the expensive ones?

You can read up a lot online if you're interested, but some basic stuff: High quality, heavier gauge steel construction. Heavy duty stainless steel burners and drip guards. Heavy stainless or porcelain enameled grills. Better warranty. Generally a good grill ( as omalak suggested ) will reach a higher grill surface temperature faster, heat more evenly, and retain heat better as the oven body ( top and bottom of the shell ) are much heavier - usually stainless w/ cast aluminum end caps. I just did a ton of research in the spring and ended up with a Napoleon P500RSIB

Go Weber. Picked mine up a Lowe's five years ago and still looks and works like it's brand new.
