i couldnt find a thread on this , so im starting one
just to get some opinions and feedback for the
PLX kiwi 2 wifi
(if anyone even has bought it from here)

its basically a module that plugs into your onboard diagnostic port (OBDII / CAN) port
and can supposedly do all of these amazing things lol:

Check Engine Diagnostics
Real-time Gauges
Fuel Efficiency and MPG
Engine Sensors
Customizable Dashboard
Real-time Dyno
Data Logging
GPS Track Mapping
Skid Pad
Video Recording and Data Overlay
iMFD Aftermarket Sensor Interface

the main things im interested in is finding out my MPG
and CEL diags, etc.

HERE IS THE LINK FOR THE PRODUCT:

i'm guessing you have an iPhone and, thus, going with the PLX Kiwi WiFi...

I have the PLX Kiwi Bluetooth that I use on an Android phone. Works well, communication with the ECU is relatively fast and it is better than those knock-offs you can get for $20-40 from eBay/DealExtreme.

I have a Bluetooth knock-off, that I bought before the PLX Kiwi, and it doesn't work well with the Apps available on Android. Reason being is that the knock-offs are an old ELM chip spec that got cloned and sold.

Having said that, my main gripe with the PLX Kiwi is that it does not shut off on its own....it does have an on/off switch; however, when shoved into the cubby below the OBD2 port on the 3, the cable covers the switch. Now, having said that, I have left it plugged in for 2 weeks and didn't start the car in that time and the car started first shot 2 weeks later, so the drain on the battery isn't that bad.

Yes I have an iPhone, :)
And I've heard nothing but bad things about the cheap ones, which is expected I guess. I just wast sure about forking out $120 on something like this. But seems worth it

The one I'm looking at says it goes into a sleep/power save mode after 20 mins I think it said, so it doesn't drain your battery

If you just want one to show you MPG and check CEL's buy and ultraguage OR buy this, and ill trade you Ultraguage + cash because data logging/dyno/ gps are neat things id love to look at.

I realize ive jumped into this thread but just showing you other options for that youre looking at, and an UG only costs i believe $70 + shipping

Thanks for the Info/offer :)
I think I'm going to get this set up though just as there are a few other features I want to try out also.
Once I've tested it a bit I will definitely post my feedback
On the smoothness,etc :)

Just FYI, the PLX gauge last I checked will not show Mazda specific parameters. Although the general ones mostly cover the N/A 3's.

The PLX Kiwi BT will if you use Torque and buy Matt Jackson's plugin for the Mazdaspeed3.

Mazda specific parameters are mainly app dependent as they're there, they just need to be 'decoded'
