hey my wifes car sometimes will only start in neutral, its an 07 3 touring edition automatic transmission. would might cause this?

The neutral safety switch needs to be replaced. At least that's what it seems like.

Not sure to be honest, just ask your mechanic when you go back for an oil change next

If it indeed is the tranny parking pin, and once you repair it, teach your wife how to properly park her vehicle with the parking brake! :chuckle

how do you brake those pins then? I don't drive auto I hate them so I don't have these issues lol

Parking pin keeps the car from moving when in Park. Doesn't have anything with the car not starting.

You just put the car in park and don't use the parking brake. I see this happen *all* the time by lazy drivers. By doing this, the weight of the car is now on the pins and eventually they break. You usually see the car rock a bit when people do it.
Best practice is to engage the parking brake first, allow weight of weight to be held by that brake, and *then* put the gear selector into Park.
how do you brake those pins then? I don't drive auto I hate them so I don't have these issues lol
