Hello,
I have the following setup at the moment but I'm not sure if the speakers I am eying on will fit or even be appropriate. Your feedback would be appreciated.
Deck: JVC KW-AV60
5-channel Amp: Alpine MRX-V70 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_45520_Alpine-MRX-V70.html)
4 ohms wired: 60w RMS x 4 - Polk Audio db571 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9125_Polk-Audio-db571.html)
2 ohms wired: 300w RMS x 1 - Rockford Fosgate P2D4-10 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_34858_Rockford-Fosgate-P2D4-10-11P2D410.html)
Battery: MotoMaster Eliminator Ultra Flat Plate AGM (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/3/Batteries/BatteriesCables/PRD~0102420P/MotoMaster+Eliminator+Ultra+Flat+Plate+AGM+Automot ive+Battery.jsp?locale=en&isAutomotivePrd=true&tireSku=0102420&auto_type=part&icid=AutoSelector_PartsAccessories_2007+MAZDA+3+Se ries++4-1999+2.0L+DOHC_Batteries+%26+Accessories_0102420_V iewDetails)
Big 3: Flex Innovations Big3 Grounding Kit (http://www.flex-innovations.com/big_3_kit.htm)
I want to change the front and rear speakers to: Pioneer TS-M650PRO (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_65567_Pioneer-TS-M650PRO.html) - 110w RMS (4 ohms). Not sure if the size of the magnet would just make it impossible to fit them in. Bottom-Mount Depth is 3-1/4".
Thank you.

Couldn't tell you for sure if they will fit, as I never measured the clearance, you may need to test fit them. As for the wattage, your amp will have a hard time pushing those speakers to their proper levels, so you'll never hear their potential sound quality, and if running all five channels, you'll most likely also put the amp under heavy strain/load...imho.

+1 on the test fit, if there is not enough room, you can make up a mounting plate out of mdf wood with the thickness you need for clearance (1/2" 5/8" 3/4" etc) make sure you roll the window all the way down when you do your test fit. imo, your amp will be a fine power supply for your set-up. if you have the cash though, the pdx-5 (i think) would be your best choice.

Thanks for your opinions guys. Given my Alpine MRX-V70 amp capacity, I am also leaning towards Pioneer TS-M650PRO not being the ideal substitutes, even if they were a fit. Testing is definitely worthwhile but I think it is probably safer to go with lower peak wattage but have at least 100 RMS per channel. I am making use of all 5-channels and intend on running it that way on the new speakers. Should have bought Alpine PDX-V9 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_45480_Alpine-PDX-V9.html) instead but I guess Alpine MRX-V70 can also handle it. Bass (80 Hz and under) is perfect through my existing sub so what I am really looking for from the new speakers is clean and clear sound as possible.
Among these alternative speaker choices, what would you guys recommend?
Kicker 6.75" 2-Way Coaxial Speaker (CS674) (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_64183_Kicker-CS674.html)
Alpine SPR-60 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_34370_Alpine-SPR-60.html)
Infinity Kappa 682.9cf ("http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13967_Infinity-Kappa-682.9cf.html')

those area all in the same ball park, go with atleast a mid grade speaker if your going to theow an amp on them, these entry level ones are more suited for oem replacement. you'll get more "life" out of a higher model, like type r instead of type s

I went with JL Audio TR-570Cxi's in the rear and JL Audio C2-570x's in the front and they sound excellent. Even with the OEM head unit they sounded great. After I changed out the head unit they sounded incredible. I have an Alpine 4 channel amp sitting under the passenger seat that isn't even hooked up yet. Not even sure if I need it. Some day I will finish installing the amp and compare it to just the deck. In my opinion JL makes some of the best sounding speakers. Ordered them thru Crutchfield.ca and they include the wiring harness for the car. Actually cheaper from Crutchfield.ca then it was from Crutchfield.com. Don't know why but they were, and they ship from mississauga so received them the next day.

I've read many positive reviews on JL Audio speakers but for this time I'll settle with Alpine SPR-60. I am wanting to also order sound dampening material. Was hoping to see a deal during Labour day sale but none came by. Any thoughts on Knu Koncept's Kolossus stuff (http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KNO-KOL35)?

all of that sound dampening stuff is pretty much the same, i'd personally just stick with hushmat, its easy to install, flexable, and lighter then other companies. its also not too hard on the wallet. 2 layers of this weighs less then 1 layer of dynamat imo.

I guess what matters in the end is getting a superior product at a very good price which gives effective results. has anyone got any bad experience with Alpha Damp (http://alphadamp.com)?
