car accelerates faster then what pressure is out on the gas pedal

hey guys

asking for a friend at work who has a 2008.5 sedan and she was say that her car accelerates much faster then what it should when she puts pressure on the gas pedal. She says that when going on a green light she starts to push down the gas pedal and the car just goes and she's just wondering what could be the issue, if you guys have heard of that before. shes adjusted her floor mat so thats not the issue

What kind of shoes does she wear.

That could make a huge difference in the feeling of the gas peddle. She may be stomping it harder then she thinks.

Sometimes rain causes my car to do weird thing with throttle too, as we got drive-by-wire throttle. So water may go in through wire which is not properly wrapped and cause such issues, like for me when I come to stop, my rpm will fluctuate, but only happens if it rains overnight and I drive it next morning ( I park in driveway) Usually it doesn`t bother me, but I found disconnecting battery to 10-20 sec and pressing brakes usually reset the ECU and solves the throttle issue.

As said earlier, try different shoes, if it still happens, reset ecu. If it still happens, then it could be the throttle position sensor.

i have noticed a few people metion that they like how their mazda drives. They put their foot, to what they think is 25%, look down and they're going faster than they thought they were

down hill? up hill? gas used? idle problems? weight of the contents inside? seat position? tire pressures? weird noises/smells? new tires? tune up? oii change?

a lot of things can improve acceleration, but only by a small amount... if shes having heavy acceleration problems then it could be something internal like timing or electrical. if timing is stuck on the low end then the car will accelerate as if your taking off throughout the rpm band. its not common but some people have had "stuck" timing

If its during hard acceleration, you are not imagining things.
I have the same issue. I'm guessing its throttle body stuck/lagging.

It doesn't always happen. Floor it in 1st. Let go when speedometer hits 70 kph.. it keeps going to 80 kph by itself..
Has happened at least 5 times this year.
